this is the best fish for reduction. i normally catch around 10-15 in one window. sometimes up to 20.
just tried this one and yep, agreed. all the aetherial reduction fish should be straight catch-able with no weather conditions (just time windows.) scrip fish, ok fine keep them mooch fish.
I just want to note that my best luck with these fish has been with Thaliak Caimans. I can normally catch ~3 HQ in a window. (Best window was 6 HQ.) Basically, you pop Patience at the very beginning of the window and again at the start of the last hour. You'll be using a Bladed Steel Jig and then the first catch is with Precision Hookset followed by Powerful Hookset for the Thaliak Caiman. Precision Hookset will catch both of your mooches, Sweetfish & Bullfrog, and then the dud, Philosopher's Stone.
As for loot, I tend to get more HQ Seaborne Aethersand than NQ and I'd put the return on any Seaborne Aethersand from them around 60-70%, assuming you get an 8/8.
Okay this is just ridiculous for doing Aether reduction. By the time you catch enough fish to do the reduction, let alone the rng involved, you can go out and gather way more crystals and clusters the old fashioned way. This is just a waste of time....

If you're just after clusters and crystals. then yes you are right (but we're not just after those things).
yep, fishing aetherial reduction...heck, fishing collectibles as a whole are an absolute nightmare (and colossal waste of time.) YOU HAVE LITTLE TO NO CONTROL - if you are a miner/botanist, fishing just makes you rage even more when you realize all the consistency and control you have with the other two jobs is GONE, nearly 100% RNG.
