If I remember right its a combination of what AV was like in 1.0 (which is also where the DD hate comes from too I think), and when 2.0 intially came out AV had a good bit of lag too for everyone. Might have been something else too involved with it beyond Coincounter. At the very least by the time I started in 2.1 it was better even if it left a bad taste in many player's mouths.
It's not that it's hard, I just hate being level synced and losing my abilities. That and I just find the whole aesthetic of the dungeon really...urgh. Whereas you've got the Heavensward dungeons with fun mechanics, no sync (while levelling), aesthetically pleasing environments and monsters (Bibliothing, last boss of Library <3), and level appropriate loot.
To cut it short, I prefer to have fun, not be as efficient as possible.
