    My target settings were changed?

I'm on PS4 using Dual Shock 4 controller and have been noticing an issue with my target system that I don't recall being present before the HW expansion. Basically, any time I go to press x to send a tell, the game auto targets random objects or triggers dialogue with any nearby NPCs. It's rather annoying and I haven't found an off switch for it in my settings. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Edit: I told one of my friends about this problem and she said her target settings were set to default but she didn't experience the same problem when she used her PS4 controller to send tells. I decided to put all my settings to default to see if that would address it but I still have the same problem. I'm not sure what's causing it.

Check your target filter settings. I believe L3 (left stick button) by default will swap filter settings (All, Others, etc).

That's a different issue. He's not trying to change targets but getting the wrong thing targeted. It sounds like his issue is more about UI focus than targeting. He's getting the X button's Action function (just as though he weren't on the chat box) when he's trying to send messages. It's more that the chat box is losing focus while typing with the controller, so instead of Send (which is the chat box's "Action"), he's getting the default action of whatever else is around (which is generally select or initiate dialog).

I don't know if the same thing would be happening for me or not as I don't use the controller for chat. I have an attached keyboard for that (though I use the controller for everything else).

I tried messing around with the target filter settings today but no matter what I changed, the same problem persists. It's like Niwashi said though. I can't figure out why my friend didn't have this problem when she used her PS4 controller. Based on that, I imagine it's something on my end but I don't know what. Anyone else able to test a PS4 controller to see if they have the same issue?

Edit: It seems to happen randomly as well. If I approach the general direction of an NPC, type a tell and send, it will automatically target and begin dialogue with that NPC. I'll do it again several times with the same outcome. But then after repeatedly doing it, eventually it stops targeting that NPC and engaging dialogue. Or sometimes it will target the NPC but not initiate dialogue. I had thought maybe it's dependent on how hard I press the X button down, but I tried both soft/hard presses and neither one seemed to matter. Even if I'm not directly facing an NPC or object it will randomly auto target them when I send tells. Wondering if this is some kind of bug that got introduced with Heavensward's release.
