this game needs real-3d support for PS3 release

I dunno, I was at SEARS looking at Eye glasses and passed the electronics department, and they had a 3D television with the FFXIV demo playing on it. Looked neat in 3D I guess. It wasn't like, absolute 3D but it def had that quality that the 3DS games have.

3d tvs will never go mainstream until you lose the glasses. And even then, broadcast television will have to go 3d as well.

1. theres already stations for special 3d programming and special events like hockey and football in 3d
2. 3d tvs have sold extremely well and almost every high budget action type movie is utilizing 3d
3. almost every new tv comes with 3d built in. So its already mainstream. (ex. certain companies don't sell normal tvs anymore)

In the UK we have some broadcasts in 3d, mainly sports and movies right now, most pubs are using 3d when they show sports, its going pretty much the same as when HD was first released, at first a few channels used it, then more did. The main reason most people dont have 3d TVs right now is because its still an expencive technology which will naturally sort itself out in time.

Large screen 40"+ 3DTV are already at affordable price and its fair to imagine that almost all new model tvs will now support 3D capabilities due to competition.

That being said it still very niche, I can't imagine playing FF14 for hours in 3D my eyes would explode.

3D already works well on PC.

Might be nice if it works on console as well but it shouldn't be to high on the priority list, it is of course, something that can always be added later.

I cant stand watching movies/games in 3D. I remember going to the cinema to watch Avatar in 3D, and I got extremely dizzy. It felt like my eyes couldnt focus properly since there is multiple layers for the eyes to focus on. I also got the LG Optimus 3D as a Bday present, and when I used any of the 3D applications, it popped up a warning saying if feeling dizzy from long use of 3D, turn it off asap. 3D must be an epileptics worst nightmare

Not all new technology is for the better
FFXIV does not NEED 3D, but as a setting on/off, i wouldnt mind.

When it comes to games, ive always lived by the motto: Better GFX does not equal better Gameplay. One of my all time favorite games is still Amiga1200's Monkey Island ^^

They had the 3D thing going already before the game was even released. See?

But once again, there are mountains of things more important than this for them to take care of. The game already has 3D support on the PC. I'm sure it'll be there for the PS3 version too.

FFXIV graphics are -amazing- and beautiful. They are probably the one thing the game actually excels at. And most new PS3 games that are good are released with real-3d support.

If FFXIV is released on the PS3 with real-3d capabilities the game would probably grab a lot of attention just for its amazing graphics. And playing a game that looks realistic in 3d just makes it a much better experience.

From what I hear its not overly difficult to implement and wouldn't take like a year or anything. And it would really set the game apart from other MMOs.

So at little cost, and little time investment, it would be a great addition to the game. Especially if they release the game in the next 6-8 months since -many- people will be getting 3d tv's at christmas.

3D games need a lot more power to run then regular games. They can't even make FFXIV work properly the way it is optimized now so 3D is definitely out of question.... for now at least.

Ah, I have to watch that again, that was awesome.

I just finally got confirmation on the start date for my new job so hopefully veeeery very soon I'll be able to upgrade my PC to see this beastie game in it's full graphical glory ^.^

(I may even get a 3D T.V if it makes people react like Wada )
