No mouse cursor in full screen mode

I have searched online and the forums, but this seems to be an issue that was never fixed for Vista users (the game supports Windows Vista).

When in fullscreen mode, the mouse cursor is not visible. It is visible in windowed fullscreen, but that means having no v-synch and a maximum of 15 FPS. Cursor trails is disabled, and I've tried enabling and disabling pretty much all of the other options, and nothing makes a difference.

As far as I can see this has been an issue for 2 years and never been addressed. Am I to assume I'm not going to be able to play this game properly?

EDIT:

Immediately after posting this, I went into the game and found the option to enable software mouse options in the system configuration, this has FIXED the issue!
