My advice, just tough it out a bit more, I said the exact same thing when I hit the story wall at lvl 50.
Many people mirror this mindset of FFXI, and to an extent it's a lie. Yes, players were put up with bad players, bad parties, bad experiences, and all of the above without saying anything. However , that would not stop them for talking about your back and recreating an MMO version of your worst High School experiences. There were many back stabbing stories, internal Linkshell (Free Company) drama, stealing, conniving, everything. The difference between this game and 14 is that the latter is much more in your face than the former. Do I think the overall attitude is on a lower scale than XI? Yes, and I firmly believe it has to do with what the game promotes and the type of integrity you need to possess to gain the coveted shinies. Still.. rose glasses, people.

If people get bored enough to quite on the 2.X patch MSQ content then there is a good chance they aren't going to like levelling up in Heavensward that much either. You still get EXP and gear from those MSQ so its not like they are getting nothing out of it.

People talk like HW is an entirely different game. Its not. Even the story, which many do find better, wouldn't make much sense if you didn't do the groundwork in the patch MSQs anyway.

This. A million times. I at times find it hard to understand why new people love rushing to HW. It's practically the same as ARR with expansion. Same core, same leveling, more stories and stuff. You will practically do the same stuff you have been doing and a little more.

Simplest answer is because the events that transpire in 2.1 - 2.5 directly impact the story of 3.0. But yes there's a lot of filler quests, especially early on.

    1) It is easy to wipe to Thornmarch HM. King Mog enrages at a certain %, which with an overgeared STR tank pushing his DPS on the king, can easily push the enrage if the DPS are undergeared by comparison.

    2) The gating in this game is silly and a bad decision for an MMO company that should know better, but I think the poster above me beautifully explains the reasoning why. To say the least, SE is a company with plenty of MMO experience. They should've known better than to lock the new jobs to level 50 + story.

    3) For the OP's original question, it does not matter what content it is. People expect an instant clear or else they feel like they're wasting their time. It is a sad state, but that is a major part of the player base. You will not ALWAYs get these people, however you will often run into them.

One thing I want to add, though, is that it is often also a party issue when people choose to leave a duty. If you wipe to King Mog's enrage because you didn't kill enough moogles, and then say "Please don't DPS king too much, enrage will kill us if you do. Focus on the small moogles first" only to have the blasted SMN focus his DoT's + DPS on king again completely ignoring you, this can create frustration.

But what I tend to rage quit at is when it gets even worst. When you say things to help guide and lead a party in the chat, and the people DO nothing to listen at all. They literally don't even respond in party chat, but they are obviously there. At that point, once communication has failed on two attempts, I'll just disconnect and go get some water or use the bathroom or go for a walk or do whatever RL dictates I could be doing at that instnat.

There's impatient new players and impatient old players just the same. Impatient player "aint got time" for setting up a pre-made group to guarantee everyone knows the dungeon, but they also "ain't got time" to put up with new players they inevitably get grouped with using the DF. So they ragequit/vote abandon, which only slows down the progression of new players into experienced players.

Yes, as is half of the thread deciding to mock you over what you wiped on rather than addressing the subject of the thread. If you're going to be on tonight and still need help, send me a tell and I'll see if I can't get some people to help out.

Enrage isn't the only thing that can wreck face in Thornmarch HM.

Moogle Go Round does a surprising amount of damage considering the level of this fight, and is quite capable of offing both your healers (had this happen to me on several occasions)

Just to assure OP, the MSQ in HW is better done, with less fillers (hero take this tea to my friend on the other side of the world). Other than that though, it's a story based game so yeah, that's just it. You can do the ARR MSQ pretty quickly btw and with the help of FC/friends it'll be over in a flash.

Why are you complaining about the stuff instead of doing it?
