This. A million times. I at times find it hard to understand why new people love rushing to HW. It's practically the same as ARR with expansion. Same core, same leveling, more stories and stuff. You will practically do the same stuff you have been doing and a little more.
There's impatient new players and impatient old players just the same. Impatient player "aint got time" for setting up a pre-made group to guarantee everyone knows the dungeon, but they also "ain't got time" to put up with new players they inevitably get grouped with using the DF. So they ragequit/vote abandon, which only slows down the progression of new players into experienced players.
"Ul'dah can keep their dusty markets, and their streets paved in silver and gold.
Limsa Lominsa keep your pirates, and your ships covered in musty mold.
My loyalty lies with Gridania, with the Moogles and the tree spirits of old." -The Forky Conjurer
Yes, as is half of the thread deciding to mock you over what you wiped on rather than addressing the subject of the thread. If you're going to be on tonight and still need help, send me a tell and I'll see if I can't get some people to help out.
Enrage isn't the only thing that can wreck face in Thornmarch HM.
Moogle Go Round does a surprising amount of damage considering the level of this fight, and is quite capable of offing both your healers (had this happen to me on several occasions)
Just to assure OP, the MSQ in HW is better done, with less fillers (hero take this tea to my friend on the other side of the world). Other than that though, it's a story based game so yeah, that's just it. You can do the ARR MSQ pretty quickly btw and with the help of FC/friends it'll be over in a flash.
Did you or anyone else research this fight? You should watch a video and at least know your role. If you want to be successful it would behoove you to know the major mechanics as well and share it with the party if needed.
To answer your question, you do 50 content because it prepares for later stuff. Take the time and do the leg work.

Why are you complaining about the stuff instead of doing it?
To answer the first question, because Final Fantasy games are story driven, always has and looks like it always will.First of all..why do I need to do level 50 content instead of moving right on to Heavensward content? Why am I collecting tea leaves and other mundane crap for random NPCs after I've saved the world?
Anyways, I just got to the part where I have to fight Good King Moggle Mog (finally something interesting?) but it requires a full raid. Awesome. So I sat in queue for 20 minutes and finally got a party, but they voted to abandon the trial after TWO wipes. WHY? Clearly these people queued because they needed it, so why would they give up AFTER FIVE MINUTES? Especially when we get a stacking buff?? Is this normal for this games community? Now I'm sitting in queue again.
I wouldn't have spent $40 on Heavensward if I knew I'd probably never get to see any of it. :\
For your second question, I don't know. I haven't had people give up when I've done DF's. Most of the time if you were new, they'd explain what you had to do, then clear it and move on. The story mode versions of boss fights and such are simplistic in a way that it shouldn't require you to research anything, just a quick blurb from someone who's done it and it's fine.
Just remember, you may think you're regretting to spend 40 bucks on HW, but you're still gaining EXP towards 51 because you have HW unlocked now. Less EXP you have to worry about when you actually get to Ishgard and the surrounding areas, leaves more side quests for other jobs you decide to level later, etc.
Getting inside Ishgard makes alot of sense plotwise and the new job quests have scenes where npcs talks about what happend in the 2.0 storyline. I remember back in March when people were complaining that the new jobs should be outside of Ishgard. At the time I agreed and thought that newcomers should be allowed to play the new classes. But after finishing a certain level 50 job quest, I have say that what SE did was the right call.
ITT: OP confuses a single player offline game with an MMORPG.
