Moving, selling, organization in FFXIV is in the stone age.

Now, I don't know how most of you feel or if your okay with the speed at which you can move things and sell things. Example..if I made X of useless item to sell at a npc cause money is time. The rate at which you sell things is almost appalling. This is just a suggestion. I may be 1:allplayercount but I still wanna see if anyone thinks the same. Hopefully this can be improved or even at least read by a official of this forum. If not, cool.

From what I understand the limitations on these systems are by design due to the networking interface of the server architecture and the code that interfaces you to it... Literally, it cannot be improved is what I'm "reading between the lines". Aesthetically, sure, it would be nice to get some better tools to manage our inventories and that may well happen. As far as the lag for move/transaction interactions with the interface? I doubt that is ever going to get better. If they do, I would gladly eat my words on that day.

I'd like to see some improvements in the interface (especially for things like moving a bunch of items together rather than one-by-one, or being able to select where to put the item in your inventory).

But lag is lag. Nothing happens until it happens on the server, so moving, buying, or selling an item is a matter of having the client tell the server you want to move/buy/sell it, followed by the server updating the item's location, then the server telling your client that it's been done. Since the client doesn't display the change until it gets back that acknowledgement from the server, there's a delay built in to ensure you don't (for instance) select Sell on the same item multiple times while waiting for the server to acknowledge the first sale.

So if there were to be a fix for the issue of having to wait for each item to be sold one-by-one, it might work better to have us select all the items we want to sell, then sell them all at once. There would still be a selling delay as our client software communicated with the server about the sale, but that delay would only need to happen once so wouldn't be as annoying. Some other MMOs have a feature like this. LOTRO, for instance, lets us lock all the inventory items we want to keep (either from our inventory or the vendors' Sell window) and the vendor window has a "Sell All" button that will sell all unlocked items at once. (Of course, that game also has lots of loot items whose main --and for a long time only-- purpose was to sell them to vendors for cash, so dumping all your junk loot off at the vendor is a common action there. It'd get significantly less use in this game, where Allagan coins are the only items like that.)
