    Ala Mhigo [Spoiler]

WARNING: this is a SPOILER Discussion....

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Ala Mhigo is the next area we head to for 4.0, what do you think will be the driving force that brings our character into Ala Mhigo and allow us access to Ala Mhigo?

Ilberd said he will sacrifice anything to free Ala Mhigo from the Garlean Empire no matter the cost.

The Fist of Rhalgr is now rebuilt under Widargelt.

The Garlean Empire is almost ready for another assault on Eorzea if they can manage to fix their new flagship.

I'm guessing the Battle for Ala Mhigo may be the driving force in 3.X that allows Ala Mhigo to be accessible as the Grand Finale for 3.X era.

Of course we may see Widargelt and a army of Monks showing off in the Battle of Ala Mhigo along side the Eorzean Alliance.

Simply to beat up the Empire.

I think Ala Mhigo might be 4.0, but not sure how much they will handle it during 3.X. We've still got a lot of story to deal with still in Ishgard. Nidhogg, Waring Triad, garlean airship that Midgarsormr and other dragons will probably wreck, something with the moon and warrior of darkness. And unlike Ishgard, we don't even have a clear visual representation of the entrance to Ala Mhigo.

I think we'll have a better idea of where things are going when 3.1 comes out. If it's like 2.1, there will be some poetry hinting at the future storyline.

Whether or not we go to Ala Mhigo will depend on how much we beat back the Empire in one of the upcoming patches. If the Empire makes an advance and we successfully repel it, the next step in the story may be taking the fight to them by liberating Ala Mhigo and maybe even helping in Doma.

I don't think beating the Garlean back in one MSQ update would be possible. Maybe 2 MSQ updates but 1 may not be possible due to how the story so far have mentioned the Garleans building their army back up for their next invasion.

I think they may make it a 3 Parter being first part covering the Garlean return to Eorzea with a failed attempt to hold back the Garleans then part 2 is when we start pushing back with part 3 ending the invasion with the Battle of Ala Mhigo.

    Big time spoiler:
At the end of 3.0 "The Eorzean Alliance is now whole with the inclusion of Ishgard. "let us defend eorzea from the Garlean Empire."

Since the emperor is at the front, seeing to the empire's efforts personally, whether its eorzean conquest or just an expedition to recover more powerful Allagan artifacts, i see the Alliance clashing with the Empire to prevent known but still buried war machines like omega-weapon from falling into the wrong hands.

Now that the Alliance is whole, after repelling the coming invasion, the Alliance will take on an offensive counter-attack to remove Garlean troops from the continent, what better way to start than liberating Ala-Mhigo?

Though this is a long shot, the Empire has set its foot hold and turned able bodied men and women of Ala Mhigo, that didn't flee, into conscripts. When new generations of a conquered country grow up under this, it becomes accepted as the resentment from the suffering generation die out over time. Essentially we will be fighting Ala-Mhigans to recover Ala-Mhigo.

It's been made clear that the Warrior of Light's main purpose is the eradication of Primal entities. So if we are heading into Ala-Mhigo it will most likely be related to Ala-Mhigo refugees being mislead by Ascians into summoning a Primal and taking the war into their own hands.

I can already see Ilberd being responsible for that. After all he will sacrifice anything to free Ala Mhigo even if it means his own pride or honor or everyone who trusted him.

My guess is that 4.0 will wrap up the whole Garlean Conflict storyline. Which will kind of put the Fight-for-Eorzea "trilogy" into a close, round out the Eorzean map with Gyn Abania and Xelpathol, and move on to a new storyline and continent in 5.0.

So in 1.0/2.0 we dealt with a Garlean invasion and pushed the invaders back. In 3.0 we resolved, or nearly resolved, a conflict within Eorzea and in the process made more allies to fight Garleans. And in 4.0, it would be time to bring the fight to the Garleans and take back Ala Mhigo.

I doubt we can beat the Garlean empire entirely, but my guess is that whatever happens in Ala Mhigo, like beating the Emperor himself, will cause a major impact to Garlemald that could collapse the empire. Maybe multiple uprisings of other conquered countries, like Doma, could happen simultaneously with the retaking of Ala Mhigo (like that could be the plan all along) which could destroy or at least severely weaken the empire to the point where colonies can take control of their countries back (remember that Garlemald itself is just a small country that came into a technological revolution), and therefore close the 'Garlean Conflict' and maybe move on to other stories on later expansions. (And then the Garleans could make a comeback in 6.0 or something lol).

Well, if we recall in the 2.0 storyline, the Ascians were in the process of duping the Little Ala Mighan youth into trying to summon Rhalgr. So, this isn't outside the realm of possibility.

They tried this once with Wildred, May he rest in Peace, and the Ala Mhigan Youth in 2.0. This was your level 26-28ish quest in which the Ascians convinced them to Summon Rhalgar but were stopped before they could raid the Amalj'aa encampment. Ilbeard is a bit more skilled and capable than a hand full teenagers and unlike us he doesn't know that the primals are merely the imaginations of the summoners made real.

We will Probably see 'Rhalgar' sooner or later.
