    Reclaiming FC (and FC house)

    When I last played FFIV, I started a FC. I quit for awhile, though I reactivated back in March of this year for a time, before finally resubbing again for Heavensward. When I logged in in March, I was still the FC leader.

    When I resubbed for Heavensward, I found myself without a Free Company, which I found to be odd. I didn't necessarily expect to still be the leader, but I thought I'd be in it at any rate. So I checked on the Lodestone and sure enough, the FC still exists (along with the housing plot we had) but it only has one active member now--someone recruited shortly after making the FC.

    I even tried to add the person as a friend so I could catch them when they log on, but it told me it's unable to locate that person..

    I don't really expect to get any help on this but it's something I felt compelled to post. GMs should be able to intervene in a case like this but are completely unwilling to do so. I feel in this case I should be able to reclaim this FC.

    Players are able to remove a FC leader if they are inactive for a certain amount of time . I'm guessing your FC booted you and claimed the FC for there own . So you pretty much only able to get it back if you can contact that player holding FC leadership

    I get that

    But keep in mind that the sole member is now inactive, or so it appears--when I try to add that person as a friend it says he cannot be found. So not only am I out the 5 million gil I put into this FC house, but the housing plot is wasted and not available for others who might want to purchase it. I think an easy remedy to this would be to prohibit an FC founder from being removed from the FC. Even though leadership would eventually transfer to an active member, this would prevent the current situation--in this case, leadership would switch back to me upon my logging in. That would also allow them to make the FC founder the leader in the event all members of the FC are inactive. Does that make sense? I just don't think this present situation should be allowed to happen it just seems very poorly implemented.

    System like that would be convenient for you but what about a different situtation where for example: the founder quit playing a year ago, remaining members stayed active and after passing leadership made the FC their own place, helped it grow, pitched in for house and workshop, nurtured newbies and helped each other, etc. you get the gist. And all this while, the founder who had been gone for a year suddenly decides to log in and would be given power over everything rest of them had worked so hard to achieve. On the rare occasion he might be a nice guy and pass leadership back to whoever has been filling his shoes for the past year. Or he might not and they could end up with one of the many scenarios where he gets to reap all the rewards.

    FC leadership passes on to the 2nd highest ranking member (that you, as a leader, had the power to appoint) after 35 days. This system has been in place for a good while and it was added because community requested it frequently and not without reason. You snooze, you lose - it's though but fair for everyone and yes, in your case it sucks, especially to have a house/plot go to waste like that but that situation is very common in many servers until SE implements similar timer for housing.

    In order to add a friend, the player in question must be online. You can't add offline players to your friend list (or blacklist, for that matter).

    The reason for this seems to be that lists operate on a sort ID that is different from the player's name. Spammers delete their characters and the name becomes 'deleted' in your blacklist. Characters who change their names have their names changed in your friend list, linkshells, etc.

    You could try searching for the player you wish to contact using the search command '/sea name'. I recommend making a macro for this purpose that you can execute periodically when you're bored and hope they show up online to talk to.

    If the FC leader does not log in for somewhere around 30 days, then someone else who has logged in becomes the leader. That you're not in the FC means you were expelled by someone in the FC with the permissions to do so.

    Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense. Still don't think the creator of an FC should be able to be booted from it, but it is what it is. I don't have a problem with an active player taking over as FC leader automatically, but I also don't think a system should allow this present situation.

    IMO this system(35day transfer master) encourages Master(like the inactive member in your FC) remove all members before unsub. so he will not lose the FC and the house (like you) when he returns ^^;
