Why people are rushing to exchange their Alex tokens?

AF2 i190 gear is less than a week away. Some of its pieces stats will be tailored for your main job and will be better than generic 1-for-all-healers or 1-for-all-tanks gear.
Why, having MP problems after a few expensive Raises on my WHM I'd rather wait AF2 head, gloves, belt with Piety than get Protoype piceses now (which have zero MP and I actually prefer Asuran with less defense and healing power just for extra Piety).
At the very least I'll wait to see AF2 stats before exchanging anything.

because savage raid is released next week so we need the gear, plus getting a full set of AF2 will likely take 1 1/2 months at 450 tomes / week so better get geared right now and change the gear later

Why would you hold onto the tokens. You do realize that Alexander (Savage) will drop a different set of gear? Although SE specified in the live letter that players will receive a token from Alex Savage. This token will likely be for different gear. Unless you are planning on using the tokens for alts then there really isn't any point in holding onto them at this point.

It works both ways. If you're gearing up multiple jobs, I'd recommend saving your Alex tokens until 3.1. Why? Because you can compare the BiS items with two sets instead of one. You don't need the 190 for Alex normal, and it's not going to disappear either if you don't upgrade for the week.

With the exception of the bolts for accessories each of the items require a different type of drop. I understand your logic but we don't currently know what ilvl the Alex (savage) or esoterics gear will be. They have specified that Alex gear will be higher ilvl than alex normal (possibly i200). If esoterics end of being ilvl190 with the possibily of an upgrade to i200 with loot drops from Alex savage (most likely scenario based on past history) then I still feel it would be better to get the items now so you can be as close to i190 when alex savage gets released

Different or multiple reasons...

1) To reach ilvl 190 faster.

2) Glamour use

3) Preparing for BiS.

4) two of the above reasons.

6) All of the above.

After all if the new tome gear weekly cap lock is low, the fastest way to get to ilvl 190 for more stats is by Alex Raid which a player can easily get 2 or 3 ilvl 190 gear in one week compared to the Weekly Tome gears being 0 or 1 gear per week.

By this a player can obtain 2 to 4 ilvl 190 gear in 1 week by getting both Alex gear and Esoteric gear.

What your saying makes a lot of sense, but it doesnt make too much sense to hold onto them either as long as your getting good pieces with your main stats like crit or det.

Even if they come out with a better piece, i can spend the tokens/eso on other slots to get better bang for the buck.

You and your raid are playing poorly if you need piety on all of your gear as a whm. I've solo healed all of the available HW content except for A4 and haven't ever struggled for MP.

You're really doing a disservice to yourself by sacrificing so much throughput for so much unnecessary MP. Savage Alex *might* have such intense healing requirements as to require every piece to have Piety, but I highly doubt it. You only need Piety to a certain point, and after that it's a completely wasted stat.

One bard, and Ballad is only used during transition phases such as bloody fuller or whatever the name of bismarck's is. There are currently no fights in the game where damage patterns are unpredictable and unavoidable damage is really high enough to warrant spamming high mp heals. A4 is the only fight out right now that actually requires two healers just due to how the mechanics of the fight work.

You only need as much piety as how bad your group is at avoiding AoE.
