Anyone record gameplay with Afterburner?

Long story short, I do YouTube videos of gameplay.

I use MSI Afterburner.

I can *not* for the life of me get it to take screenshots or record game footage with the game in borderless windowed mode, or windowed mode, ONLY in true fullscreen.

I hate true fullscreen. Means I can't tab out for crap while in queue.

It works just fine in other games but for some blinking reason it refuses to work right in FFXIV.

Same with Nvidia Shadowplay. I only can record it with fullscreen only. Maybe I could suggest to use Bandicam or Fraps

Not buying either of those. FRAPS is a bloated machine anyways. MSI works perfectly fine in every other game, and it works in this one after a little playing around to set it to record as if it's recording my desktop(makes 0 sense to me) but there's got to be another way to fix it.

And Bandicam sucks.

I have had that problem when I was playing on DX9. Since I switched to DX11, Afterburner has been recording and screenshotting perfectly in windowed mode. (It also recently updated, don't know if that's related.)

Now if only I could run DX11 without it spontaneously closing the game during Alexander.... which is why I stopped using it
