Well IDK, with me "casual" is more or less accurate so I refer to myself as that.

I try my best, I tackle hard content but I am a dusty old crone at this point in my life (by Internet standards) and no longer have the time or stamina to dedicate to hard mode, extreme raiding. I did some high end raiding in WoW but...those days are behind me.

It's a little sad that "casual" has come to mean "bad" to so many people. Casuals can be good at the game, we just don't consume the content at the same rate as hardcore players and that's fine, isn't it?

If he really is a hardcore player he should have his own party instead of queuing in DF. He probably is just an elitist wannabe.

Once upon a time, I was really into a certain physical card trading game. You know the one that has a certain coloured-eye blue dragon and the dark magician. I collected lots of cards, by buying these boxes with toys inside. Sometimes I get some really cool ones, (I had Obelisk and 2 parts of Exodus).

I was really into it I went out of my way to look for other players around the world. But I didn't have internet back then (curse you third-world countries!) So i went to school, I showed my friends and classmates about them and some of them turned out to be collecting them as well. I dueled them and fought them for rare cards. I thought I was really into the zone and I was one of the best in the school. I brag to people I got this card or I beat that guy or how I memorize certain lines from the anime.

Then I grew up. Time went by and the cards were left behind in my wardrobe, collecting dust. When I look at them, I remember those days and I remember how big I was, how proud I was in such a small game that doesn't even matter to my life anymore. I remember that it was just a game and the pride that I get over it. And then, I thought in the end, it's just a game and it's meant to be fun with other people. I upsetted some people with my bragging and I insulted them because they didn't know how to play it properly.

Until now, when I have this urge than I am feeling like an elitist again, I go to my wardrobe and pick up the only card I didn't throw away. The Obelisk.

Don't worry about those people, OP. Someday, they'll realize that how proud they are about something, there will always be someone who's better than them.

    Ha. What a rube.
Pay him no mind. He deserves none if your attention.

He's got his own problems to deal with and you're not there to babysit him through his temper tantrums.

Well considering FFXIV is designed for the casual gamer basically every single person who plays is a casual.

Although I would have hoped the monthly subscription and paywall would keep out the 12 year olds.

I can't say I've ever actually been outright called casual in a DF as of yet. Granted, I consider myself casual, and would likely have taken it as a badge of honor if someone "accused" me of being casual.

    Also...

I still have my cards! I actually bought a new binder today just so I could keep them all in pages and in one place, and played a few games with a friend online using a desktop program! X)

The other day, a random person kept spamming trade on me while I was talking to an npc in Foundation. It's impossible to initiate a trade while a player is in conversation with an npc but the system will tell you the trade was cancelled everytime and make a system noise.. Right after I finished reading the npc dialogue, the trade window popped up and the unknown player tried to trade me a Puk minion. Naturally I cancelled the trade. Irritated that they were spamming trade on me I threw up /busy only to be told in /say "F-ing Casual, take the damn minion"

Not sure why they decided I was a casual as I play quite alot during the day/week/month/year... Not that it matters even if I were a casual... and I already have the Puk minion from ages ago... but yeah....

Pay no attention OP, I have MNK as my alt job and if a tank is moving mobs around needlessly then they are preventing you from doing optimal dps anyway with all the positionals so clearly he is an idiot.

Regarding your question, I can't remember ever being called a casual but I have a few times been told off for doing my job "wrong" lol. Like a dps in A3 a few nights back telling me and the other healer off for letting them die. (The tanks needed heals at the time so given the choice between a tank death or a BRD, me and the other healer agreed BRD can eat dirt.)

I call myself a casual though hehe. :3 I only play a few hours in the evenings a few days a week normally so yeaaaah.
