Will we ever see Ranger or Samurai?

Ranger? Probably no. A mobile ranged DPS just won't work in the game. Which is why BRD and MCH both now have cast bars even with lower overall DPS.

Samurai? Maybe it'll be the next tank job (they said the 3.0 tank was either going to be DRK or SAM, and they chose DRK, so please look forward to it)

That kind of makes it sound like a base class with Shogun being a job it can get with a DPS option job in addition.

you did miss the part where they have said no more class added, i think you must accept the fact that samurai will and must'nt be a tank. mostly because it will be redundant with warrior and dark knight.

ranger will probably never come, sorry.

As others have said, we won't get Ranger. BRD essentially took the Ranger role (their base class is "Archer", which is essentially the same thing).

Samurai is very likely. It was hugely popular in FFXI, just like NIN, and they gave us NIN because of that popularity. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Samurai in 4.0

ninja was release because of the lack of "scout" jobs. since in FF series the scout are ninja or thief it was fast decided.
the next one coming will probably be red mage and dancer sadly. i don't see them add a new tank before a bit. add a new tank will not make the tank more present.

and yoshida want to add a melee mage, dancer fit perfectly with ala migho lore then it's likely to come. other point about the red mage, ilbert use a fire sword strike hinting in this direction. since he is from ala migho.

Dancer could also be a melee support, though I can't imagine what kind of offensive stuff you could give them without creating a lot of overlap with monks.

next job is going to be MAGE because we have 3 tanks, 3 healers , 3 melee dps , 2 ranged , 2 mage ....and i doubt SE will add another Ranged....

so Mage + who knows

since yoshida have said no support role, a sort of healer is the best they can do i guess
