Hard-line ruling on parsing

Over the 24-48 hours since Alexander Hard mode came out. Me and other players have been getting berated by players using a Parser to harass others from doing trials,Dungeons, ect. ect. I wish you folks would make the punishment for harassment using a parser a harder violation, cause alot of players think they can get away with it and if they do get caught nothing will happen to them. It has to stop, pure and simple how can players progress through content if you read during a fight "YOUR DPS SUCK QUIT THE DUTY" or some variation of it. Alot of the players who Parse use FF14app or A.C.T. (advanced Combat,Tracker)to parse others.I know some people claim they use it to make sure no one is just Messing around during a fight but still, it has caused alot of people to stop progressing and even quit the game altogether which isn't good for your company and I don't think Yoshi P would like it if people were quitting the game because of people using a parser to harass others.

Harassment should be avoided... But if you can't play the job, you don't need to progress, or hinder others progression because you can't take the time to go hit a practice dummy.


I'm in the camp that they should add an in-game parser... Even if only you can see your own numbers.

well what I am talking about is the constant banter from players who use it as a tool to harass others though not for legit reasons.

and it has nothing to do about weather you know your job or not it's about using a third party program as a tool to harass not help.

What i see is that groups are making DPS checks,but some people want to put their standard on it and not the one given by SE to pass the DPS checks during a duty. It's gotten bad when people are in a learning party and a player is using a parser to harass others when people are trying to learn the mechanics of a fight.

I do take time to use the practice dummy BTW,but some players expectations are too far out there to even grasp the concept of what a learning party is.

That is terrible. I have not come across that here but I did in WoW. A lot of people played with the chat turned off there because of stuff like that. I suppose you can do that here or vote to kick the player who is harassing. Hopefully SE can figure out how to block parsing software from working with the game. I see why some use it, but ultimately it just leads to poor sportsmanship.

I think they are looking into it, but I will be glad they find a way to stop the small group that has given the rest of the population a problem.

I'm all for adding a parser in-game. Not necessarily a version that allows everyone to see everyone dps, but i would like to see my own. I play ps4 so I can't regardless but I would like to know my numbers. If anything, having a parser for yourself could let you see how good/bad you are and make adjustments if need be. All bad dps does is hold everyone back. And if you are meeting dps checks but a one person's dps is really low then they should be informed, not in a rude or hurtful way, but in a constructive way. If I see someone that isn't doing good dps for Monk i try to give them tips to improve and most have been grateful for it. Also, if square actually cared about parsing then they would have banned people like Mr. Happy and what not a long time ago since all of their learning videos is proof that they are Parsing and anyone working with Square could easily see it.

I use a parser to see my own dps if im running dungeons or whatever - couldn't really care less what the random duty finder black mage is doing, because I understand that not everyone wants to master their class - some people are just playing a video game to relax, and shouldn't be made to feel terrible because of it.

I do think having some kind of "dummy trainer" mini-game that showed your dps would be a good thing though, so people could at least practice their rotations with some feedback.

What's odd is that (correct me if im wrong, i only did it once) but in PvP don't you get a report at the end of how much damage everyone did? Not sure why it's fine in PvP but not in PvE.

And about the people that call people out for low dps - yes I believe that is abuse of a tool which should be used for personal development and raid teams. I for one would be pissed at this person, because our/most people's raid group needs a parser, and these guys are just giving SE reasons to make them bannable
