Give more damage to DRK and PLD, or nerf Warrior!

    Troll thread, I used provoke
No but seriously I do want some more potency for Paladin's and DRK so they can change to the roll of Off-Tank. Would be nice to have some sort of Fell Cleave for DRK and PLD, I mean it's nice to see it on pld and drk. :d

It's super dull being off-tank as PLD in places like A12 :P
Trying to help somewhat with occasional clemency on people, occasional divine veils. I'm not sure people realise I'm there actually!

But but dem dps! Imagine u have a third oath skill that unlocks skills like ahem sort of Fell Cleave type or decimate which does a puckering butthole damage making u go wild? ;0 why healing ppl when u can have dps utilities? Yoshida does listen to us poor paladins and dark knights! Believe! Now using Hallowed Ground against dem salty warriors lmao

Just steal a time gate from the dps, lol

Seriously though, I like the thought of more damage as pld, but it's not needed in my opinion. Let the WAR's keep their fell cleave. Boost the potency of spirits or give us another ogcd attack that doesn't need to be proc'd, but I guess that would be kinda giving pld a fell cleave without stacks........I dunno XD

The other two tanks can put up decent numbers too. Warrior is just in the best place to be off tank, still. Even better if we start off as MT and hand it over when Unchained wears off. If you really want to put up big numbers switch to a dps job.

Some things need to be said: Warrior does the most damage on its own because it can self-boost its damage through Storm's Eye. Paladin does a slight bit less damage than Warrior and Dark Knight, but this is made up by their incredible healing utility that is unmatched even by Warrior. Dark Knight and Warrior deal roughly the same damage as off-tanks given equal skill and item level once accounting for debuffs, with a brazen Dark Knight pulling ahead while actively tanking thanks to their parry-based procs.

So, the real problem with Warrior is not their damage output. It hasn't been their damage output for a few patches now, if not the entire expansion. It is that Warriors have a perfect storm of power going on. To list them off:
    • They possess two powerful supportive debuffs, the Storm combos. One of these is even irreplaceable, there is no other Job in the game that can provide Storm's Path.
    • The best and most reliable defensive "cooldown" in the game, Inner Beast.
    • A much more effective way of mitigating damage: HP and damage reduction is better than just stacking damage reduction.
    • Warriors are extremely self-reliant between their high health restoration through attacking their enemies and their TP restoration.
    • And Warriors are the only tank whose enmity combo is also their most effective way of dealing damage.

All of that combined leads to Warrior being too strong for the other two tanks really compete. Add to it that Rage of Halone and Delirum are not damage reduction, but stat reduction, and the issue is compounded because of how stats tie into the damage calculations of enemies. So really, the issue isn't that Warriors do more damage, it's that they do everything else too well.

Doesn't pld do more damage fully buffed? (ie with all relevant debuffs on a target) On a side note seems war might actually see a mild nerf come 4.0 since Yoshi does feel war and sch are prolly a bit too strong on the solo target damage, just hope they don't go overboard.

WAR does the most damage on its own for a combination of factors, not the least of which is maim, which is 20% more DPS, and unlike mutually beneficial effects like SE, only the WAR gets a benefit from. Also, the 'slight' difference between WAR and PLD is in excess of 20% at the average (not insignificant at all if your party has lower DPS), not to mention in fight with adds. DPS might not be the holy grail of clearing content this tier but if your group DPS is low, clearing the DPS requirement to beat a fight like Cruise Chaser will be made easier by having a little extra oomph. Put simply there is a significant difference between PLD and WAR and if group DPS is low then gaining 20% more damage (assuming going from DRK/PLD -> DRK/WAR) could be very worth it.

[*]The best and most reliable defensive "cooldown" in the game, Inner Beast.
    > Implying that any WAR uses it at any point in the tier

The rest of your points are valid, but I'd just say that your group can probably handle all content in the tier up to A12S without a WAR (because AoE damage hurts so bad), it's just doing so little damage hurts me inside. I've gone OT PLD for A11S and A10S and watching my DRK MT out-pace me the entire fight fills me with sadness.

Yeah, I was wrong on the damage numbers. However, I end up using Inner Beast in A12S, just because the General's Time hits so damned hard that I feel super uncomfortable switching to Deliverance.
