    Some General New Player Questions

    I'm a level 31 Rogue.

    - What should I do with all the gear I'm no longer using? If it has 100% spiritbond, should I turn it into materia? If it doesn't have spiritbond, should I just sell it to a vendor?

    - If I have a pink lvl 20 piece of gear, and a white lvl 23 piece (which has lower stats than the level 20 piece) which should I use whilst leveling? Should I just focus on getting all my gear as high level as possible or should I be using lower level gear if it's technically better?

    - Is it important to level up the Hunting Log?

    - Once I'm lvl 50 what should I do? I'm guessing people are no longer doing the lvl 50 raids? I'd have loved to do them and do other story quests added for lvl 50 people, but now that Heavensward is out I'm guessing it's just like WoW where even the lvl 51 quest rewards are better than the lvl 50 raid gear? Should I just suck it up and buy the expansion or will I get anything of use from trying to do lvl 50 content?

    Thanks.

You should go unlock Ninja as soon as you're able - that first involves leveling PGL to 15.

-This is what I do. Especially since you cannot trade used gear to other players. If you know you're going to level other classes, keep it for those classes until it is spiritbonded, however.
-You should use whatever gear is best. ilvl isn't important until you hit 50/60, and by then higher ilvl usually always means 'better'.
-It gives experience, as for that you don't need to.
-Raid gear, especially Final Coil of Bahamut, gives out ilvl 130 gear, which is good until 55-ish. You can probably find other people doing the older raids, however, if you look hard enough. Ask around. However, if you just do the story quests, the game will automatically give you appropriate gear from the quest rewards... I think they give up to ilvl 110...? I think. The 51 gear is around ilvl 115.
There is still plenty of content to do without the expansion if you don't want to buy it right away, and many people are still doing it. (Not AS many of course, but the crowd is still there).

    Welcome to Eorzea!

    1. Aetherial gear (pink) is fairly easy to come by and will spirit bond quickly as well, I'd recommend making materia to either meld to other gear (if you're into that) or to sell. In general gear will sell better in materia form than to an NPC (once you've worn the gear and fought you can't sell it to other players). If you haven't worn the gear yet it might sell better as is. Should you sell it would depend on how hard it was to get and how soon you will be using it again for another class. I for example leveled all my jobs to 50 almost as one unit and recycled a lot of gear, replacing my recycled gear with pink spiritbond gear to sell and then going back to my recycled equipment. After you've used the gear for stats you have one last concern before converting or selling them, would you like to use it for glamour later (for its looks)? A lot of people will keep certain pieces of equipment so they can use it for glamour later (you must have the item to use the item's image).

    2. Use the gear that has the better stats, Aetherial gear will in general be better than white or green gear of similar levels - green gear generally looks prettier and white gear is just stuff, unless melded a whole bunch it will likely be bad stuff (or HQ'd). If you get two pieces of the same gear after you hit 100% you can switch to the other and do the same*, this can make you some gil . * (good idea for pink gear, which can't be traded anyways, may be a bad idea for white/tradeable green gear)

    3. It offers decent exp and efficient exp perk if you're already in the zone for quests, and will get you a ring once you complete it all the way. It isn't required though.

    4. I would continue the main story line once you hit level 50, the level 51 quest will not reward gear better than the level 50 raid content - however it is not required to have the better gear to move through the story. Gaining that edge may take longer than just going through with handicap story gear :P (also the gear granted isn't that bad, lol).

You can always come back to the old raid content unlevelsynced with one or two people and face roll it for the items and story :P.
