Patience II, Precision and Powerful Hookset

The description is pretty vague, and I still haven't figured out what it really does. Does it:

A) increase the probability of getting higher lvl fish (as in good for hunting star fish)

B) bigger chance to get heavier fish

and how big is the increase? I have used tried using it for hunting i70 fish for leveling my cul desynth, but I can't say it's been of any help whatsoever.



Also, what about the different Hooksets, does any of them work on fish released before HW? Recently I failed hooking a vanilla 2 star fish using the powerful hookset, so I figured that the Precision one would work; guess what, it didn't :P. Thanks in advance!

Powerful and Precision Hookset does not increase the gathering rate of the fish instead it just removes the ineffective hooking status which in turn gives you a higher probability of catching a high-quality fish. Some fishes have a high escape rate so even if precision/powerful hookset is used they may still get away. As for Patience 2, i'll try catching illuminati perch later and see if there is a difference in value between patience 1 and 2. If Patience 2 gets a high collectible value then i guess Patience 2 just increase the likely hood of catching a larger sized fish.

The description isn't correct. It doesn't remove the inefficient hooking status. Instead, Powerful/Precision should be used instead of the regular hooking action when trying to catch fish with a heavy tug (powerful) or a light tug (precision) under the effect of Patience.

It removes the inefficient hooking status for that particular cast. But yes the tooltip should be improved.

I find these skills very confusing and their description in the tooltips do not explain at all what they do or when I am actually supposed to use them. At first I thought, why would I need a skill that costs GP to remove a debuff that will just wear off in 2 minutes anyway? I assumed that it would also turn off the higher perception buff. What do I know? I'm the highest level fisher in my FC right now, so I'm trying to learn it to teach everyone else.

I just tested Patience/II. There is no noticeable size difference between the fishes caught by those 2. So perhaps, Patience II would be used to catch the big fishes. I think big fishes are labelled as color green like nepto dragon and the others?

and in all water from HS i can fish the most word i see is "The Fish Get away "
i'm not sure but i think there is a bug

I think they're mainly for collectibles or to make mooching easier. For example, the fish shionisaurus needs a double mooch which requires catching an HQ fish then catching yet another HQ I think using Patience/Patience will help make that easier for future fishes.

Definitely good for mooching, and very nice for that purpose. Let's assume a fish normally has a 15% chance of HQ. With Patience on, that HQ chance raises to 55%, but you lose half of the fish you try to catch. However, when you do the math, that means that you catch 27.5% HQ fish in the same amount of time that you previously would have caught 15% HQ fish - a significant improvement! As a bonus, the fish that you mooch will ALSO be more likely to be HQ, and also more likely to get away. The Hookset abilities remove that extra chance to get away, provided you use the correct Hookset on the type of fish you catch.

Patience II, though, I'm not sure I understand the utility. You get a 80% extra HQ chance, for a total of 95%, but have an 75% chance to lose your fish. You only catch one out of every four fish. The math here leaves you with... 23.75% HQ fish caught over time, which is less than you get with Patience. Perhaps it is intended to be used with double mooching, since the fish you catch are virtually guaranteed to be HQ? The high cost of the ability makes me wonder, though, since you'd need to Hookset twice on top of the cost of Patience II; you'd likely only get the opportunity to double mooch once over the duration of the ability.
