Wouldn't it be ST since its on a 30sec CD?Steel Peak is actually one of your strongest oGCDs (IIRC), after Elixer Drive based on PPS, so if B4B and IR are up for all of your oGCDs up to and following Shoulder tackle, you should look into switching Steel Peak and Howling Fists and moving Forbidden Chakra to the far back of the oGCD line up.
Steel Peak is 150 Potency every 40 Seconds, so its Potency per second (pps) is 150/40 or 3.75
Shoulder Tackle is 100 Potency every 30 Seconds, so its Potency per second (pps) is 100/30 or 3.34
Howling Fist (when hitting only a single monster) is 170 Potency every 60 seconds, so its Potency per second (pps) is 170/60 or 2.84.
Elixir Field (which absolutely takes the cake) is 220 Potency (when also accounting for only 1 monster) every 30 seconds, so its Potency per second (pps) is 220/30 or 7.34.
Ok I completely misunderstood PPS then I thought it mean a whole new definition, example ST is 30 sec that's means in 60 sec that's 200POT vs 300pot but u have to wait another 20 sec to completely over take ST. Ok thank you for clarifying.Steel Peak is 150 Potency every 40 Seconds, so its Potency per second (pps) is 150/40 or 3.75

Not sure if anyone else cares, but I found this 1452 DPS MNK POV in A3S which is the highest I've seen thus far and extremely impressive considering the top 3 FFLogs parses for that turn are catered to the MNK & include an AST, whereas this guy just runs NIN + MCH.

Something interesting I noticed was his opener which people are still debating here apparently:
FS x3 > BFB @ 1 on macro > ST > Dem + (PB) > SP > SP > DK + (Pot) > TwS + (IR) > Fracture + (EF) > BS + (StP) > TS + (HF) > Dem + (FC) > ToD
I imagine the early BFB lets you combo #2 with IR and allows you to get 3 total by P3. As for the rest, I'm not entirely sure. He uses a pot before IR which is something I don't see often (is there some advantage to this or vice versa?) Then he opts to Fracture instead of SP on his last second of PB which I'm guessing is to maximize DoT uptime on the boss for that phase as you can only fit in 1 ToD anyway vs 2 Fractures if you use it early. All this yields him roughly 1800+ DPS by the end of P1 (he even reports 1900 which I find to be insanely high) and 1600-1700 by the end of P2. I actually had a fellow MNK use DK for me, a NIN and an AST with Enhanced Balance (+15%) and I never ended P1 anywhere near 1900 so I'm wondering what other people usually burst there.

Oh man, thanks for the video. I have something to study now :3 He burst 2009 I think in this video. That's just unheard of. Going into add phase with like 1.6K too. Well in terms of gear that's just an easy search away:

I'm a 210 MNK with 3.0 BiS and I usually end phase 1 at high 1500-1600s with a DRG, MCH comp using the old 3.0 opener. My crit rate with litany is anywhere from 32-40% and my best A3S to date is ~1400 DPS @ 12 minutes. The disparity in numbers, however, leads me to believe either:
A.) I'm doing something extremely wrong ( Most likely conclusion ;_; )
B.) Having a fast add phase allows for a better overall parse (which is actually contrary to my personal experience, as I've gotten more DPS when people die)
C.) That A3 favors high initial burst due to all the forced downtime of the phase transitions later.
Just a few other things I found to be noteworthy:
- High fracture uptime, probably because the fast kill time + Goad + MCH Promotion.
- Beautiful multidotting @ 1:56 in P2. Looks like 100% Demolish uptime on both hands until Hand of Pain is cast.
- Rockbreaker on the slimes @ 3:40 & 4:09 which I've long suspected to be used by top MNKS.
- Using Perfect Balance as an offensive burst CD @ 6:16. If you look carefully, he'll get both DoTs up on the boss > BS > TS > TK (has to be 2nd combo since you'll want the instant stack from the next hit) > Rockbreaker the Living Liquid + Liquid Gaol > PB > Demolishes Gaol > Rockbreaker > DK > TwS > Refreshes Demolish on the Living Liquid to have DoTs ticking while he executes the Gaol (Dat multidotting tho, so beautiful).
- According to his Twitter he had a run where he was at 1478 before he died and only managed to end at 1400 which is still a very good number. I imagine were he alive, it could've been 1500+. This is just miles ahead of the parses on FFLogs and the guy is a WHM main LOL. Just makes me wonder if all the true best players don't post on FFLogs.
