Of course the only players that need to use lock on are those with legacy settings, while you are using lock on to move there is a lot more people that don't and you see them turning away from he target for 0.5-1 second. With the AA speed of MNK being affected by GL and positionals on most moves 0.5 seconds is going to be an significant delay at the end of the battle. In a 12 min long fight like A7S were a MNK if catered to has probably 95% uptime it's going to be a significant damage loss as depending on when he moves he is going to delay the AA for up to 1 second depending on timing. At the end of the fight that can end up being something like 30 missed auto-attacks, which is about 30k damage which equals about 41 DPS. This could mean the difference between a clear or wipe when close to enraging.

I mean legacy, you don't strafe while moving regularly in legacy mode which causes you to not face the target while moving, it's the same on pc as on controller if I'm not wrong. I don't have the strafe specific buttons bound so I don't know how they work in legacy but if they strafe in legacy then using those would have the same effect as moving normally in standard mode except that you will turn around when moving backwards which in some specific cases will result in a small dps loss.
