That would be an awful change. MNK is already low on utility compared to DRG and NIN, and lowering their DPS would kill them.
Making GL last longer won't increase your DPS in most cases, and even if it did, MNK needs the increase in DPS anyways... not a nerf
It's possible that they're nerfing MNK, but why? Everyone knows that if anything, MNK needs a buff... It can be argued whether they need a buff or not, but I haven't heard anyone saying they should be nerfed.
The duration is probably only going to be extended enough to be able to keep GL up after using LB3... That duration might also make things a little more forgiving in some phase changes, but they still need a little buff in potency, which I'm sure is what we're getting.

We don't know exactly what changes will have for GL pot and duration. Knowing SE with there balance tactics to ward's the jobs you could be right. That'd make no sense, though. GL upkeep isn't an issue in raids, as far as I can tell you lose it only if you messed up or in something extreme where multiple people will lose their stacks, like A1S jumps.

At the moment we are not bringing much to a raid except for our DPS which is still slightly lower than Drg. If they nerf monk now, it's going to be a dead job. And seriously what is wrong with getting instant 5 stack of chakra out of combat, the reasoning they are giving doesn't makes sense. We already can get 5 stack between each pull, it's just annoying to spam the same button 5 times for it. It's only rarely where the pull are close enough to each other that we do not have time to spam it 5 times.

There are other omissions/simplifications from the official translation (very common). Emphasis on the quotation as those are the verbs YoshiP has used:
- 'shorten' the recast time for Meditation so that you can weave it in easier
- 'strengthen' the effect of GL to 'increase' DPS (no word on dmg% or speed%)
- 'increase' the GL timer
- 'altered' the recast time for Tornado Kick (not increased/decreased)
- overall 'buffed' the monk (a clear statement)

In-order not to get enmity on all enemies you would need to skip Elixir Field and Howling Fist, so I think it will be a dps lost just to be able to constantly get instant 5 stacks. That's always been pretty common looking back the last 2 years, something I'm sure other bilingual folks have noticed (those who actually watch the live letter broadcast in full). Anything spoken tends to get a 'broad' translation, seemingly done by somebody in a hurry at 3AM in the morning.
Not that it matters much as usually we only need to wait a few weeks before the changes go live anyhow.
