    While I understand why they changed the animations for 2.0 and beyond, I did really like the animation quality of 1.0. I also liked the super crisp textures and the music (Soken's doing a fantastic job in this version of the game as well). Another small thing that I liked (but again understand why it had to go) was the various ways gear would change depending on the other gear you were wearing. It would actually change like it would in real life if you were wearing say, one type of boots as opposed to another type, and it was pretty cool.

    Yea 1.0 had a lot of aesthetic quality which I think is what eventually led to it lacking in the other vital parts of the game. Though they definitely still should reconsider bringing back some of the features that 1.0 had that made it a really great looking game. I understand some would be a lot of work at this stage of ARR, but changing the running animation doesn't seem all to bad.

    - Animations...especially the walking animations.
    - Hamlet defense! Interesting content for crafters and gatherers...please bring this back, devs!
    - 1.23 battle system was actually really fun
    - Actually having to go to locations for content. I wish they would offer some kind of incentive for doing this now...maybe an exp/gil bonus? It was always fun being there and seeing the top Linkshells coming out victorious from Ifrit and Garuda HM and countless other groups coming out of the instance dead.

    With on the fly animation modifications we can have heavy leaning animations without actually having a momentum lock... Just wanted to throw that out there.

    Appears to be a common rebuke "if I can't turn on a dime then it doesn't matter how good it looks", momentum can be its own immersive device but just the animations technically do not need to follow some law of physics (they don't now) and you could modify it so the character just looks incredibly nimble (sharp turn has them shift their weight and do a super hero/anime 180). Though that would be a lot of work, and unless it was your character only it could add stress to those machines barely making it already. Then again, if there is no momentum then everyone is seeing the same position (just different visual) and there is no reason why you couldnt just make fancy animations optional (besides the development costs required to implement the system, animation, and maintain).

    I really liked the run animations, if they ever bump up the animation quality again I'd also like to see characters put their feet on steps and not just walk up an invisible ramp that is on stairs.

    They actually do have this in 2.0 with some pieces of gear. For example, Bogatyr's pants of aiming look completely different if you have on the thigh boots vs a pair of boots below the knees. Some robes and dresses have arms that will cover your gloves, others will be tucked inside a pair of very long gloves.

    2.0 contains many of the same animations in 1.0, just sped up. From 1.0, here are "Spirits Within" and "Rage of Halone" running at 50%.

    I completely disagree with the momentum in movement being a good thing. While I was playing 1.0 my character felt sluggish and as if running on ice. Momentum free may not be realistic, but it certainly makes movement feel more responsive.

    Even if the momentum was removed, It would still look better if your character made an actual animation that showed they were stopping. Like throwing their foot out and leaning back. Now it just looks kind of boring when you stop and move.
