Warrior of Darkness [End of Game spoiler]

Are you freaking kidding me? So the warrior or darkness is basically the warrior of light from 5 years ago?! *starts pulling out hair*

And they're on the freaking moon?! Please don't tell me the moon actually encases Zodiark? *flips table*

This is too much! It's amazing! x.x

I'm pretty sure since they've referenced IV so much, and the only thing from IV on the moon was the Lunarians/Hummingway, I'm leaning more towards Zeromus/Zemus? Could be wrong, but it makes more sense than Zodiark this early in. Also, since the theme of the expansion is Dragons, and Brachioraidos was the superboss, it would also make more sense than Zodiark.

I'm pretty sure WOD=Derplander is pure speculation at this point. The Lore forum will have all the wild theories you want.

This has been discussed a fair bit on the lore forums.

One thing to bear in mind is that 'Derplander' is just a representative figure as a placeholder for our own characters in all game media. He is the canon Warrior of Light and whatever character you create takes his place in the story. The Warrior of Darkness on the moon certainly does bear a striking resemblance to Derplander but if anything this would simply mean that he is the canon representative for all WoDs. It is important to note that the character on the moon cannot be Derplander since he is always at the same point in the story as we are (i.e. right now he's just defeated Thordan and seen Nidhogg get resurrected).

The biggest implication of the use of Derplander's likeness is that the Warriors of Darkness may possibly be actual clones/copies/reflections of our own characters... We can only speculate at this point though, we don't really know what this means for the story.

    No, it's not.

The Warrior of Light in the trailers is not an actual character. He's simply a representation of the player characters. So essentially that would mean MY character is the Warrior of Darkness.

No, the WoD is simply a Warrior, by his clothes. They most likely will be "Shadow selves", basically evil copies of us.

    Comment by a dev:
So yes, the Midlander male, Miqo’te female, Roegadyn male, Elezen female, and Lalafell female in the recent trailers are in fact the same ones that appeared in the 1.0 trailer! (Yes, the black mage is the Elezen female from the morbol party, not the snooty male from the Midlander’s party. The robe & hat conceal some of her more distinguishing features, and we all know there was no bust size adjustment feature back in 1.0).

But that still leaves one question—was the party an actual party, or were they merely symbols meant to represent you, the players? Well, you can breathe easy knowing they are both. They all ventured into Eorzea at the same time as you did. They all did similar quests, and lived through similar adventures. They exist as your characters exist (in a virtual world-sort of existence). The fact that you haven’t come across them is probably the same reason you haven’t come across my character, Amanda Hugginkyss (or maybe you have? /wink). They’re just somewhere else. Though, maybe you’ll stumble across their party in the future. Or maybe you won’t. How’s that for committing to an answer?
