What I am speaking of is realistic running animation.
I don't mean just the look of sprinting though. In 1.0 (for those that didn't play or have never seen it played) you leaned into turns and your character could not stop on a dime like they do now. It gave your movement weight and that is a feeling no other MMO ever really has had. It is something so little, but I can't even explain with words how awesome that feature was, and I know I am not alone in this thought. .
The community was way better in 1.0, thats a huge reason I liked it and no DF BS

A lot of my favorite runs have been with DF groups. When tank, I've 'clicked' better with certain DF healers than other healer friends I've played with for months. Just luck of the draw, and with a much larger lot to draw from.

I've no complaints about the 1.0 community -- I certainly enjoyed that, too, with a few (as always) exceptions -- I just don't see what's automatically bad about DF. If anything, I'd just like to see some improvements to the group-finding tools in or especially outside of our current PF.

We have a problem with it in our FC, everybody just hits the DF and no one says anything in FC chat about hey, lets get a party together and clear this dungeon, for example. Yeah I know not the DF's fault, but people have gotten into a really bad habit of using it instead of trying to get a party together. Its laziness.....

While I do like ARR I'm starting to get bored alrdy even after doing the expansion, I haven't touched Alex yet but there's alot I miss about 1.0 the actual fluidity of your character and the weight behind their movements and attacks the game kept me in the world much longer than a daily session does these days on FFXIV all in all I know im one of the few but I really do miss 1.0.

R.I.P 1.0 some of us will never forget you even if you did have your bad points you had your charms that kept us with you.

This is not "Custom Me Elmo" game lol. It is an extremely well curated, focused, straight and narrow theme park MMO. It is not sandbox MMO, it is not flavored with Elderscroll, Skyrim, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption!! It is Final Fantasy, and you are correct, "single player"ness is rather obvious in level 1-60, with some flavor of online components in the form of duty finder dungeons.

Again, when you are level 1-30, soloing everywhere, you can do whatever you want (except when you do dungeons), you have not unlock any jobs, you can cross class with all of the other classes abilities. Once you start hitting the dungeons, you better KNOW your roles, if you do not, other players will kindly let you know what you do wrong (or they just rudely say that you are a noob, git good and learn to play better).

A lot of newbie start getting their education in Hauke Manor at level 28, and Brayflox will put any snowflake ME ME ME dead on first boss encounter. Sunken Temple will re-educate those tunnel vision players who cannot pay attention in 5 minutes, the Bees love to say hi. Cutter's Cry will train newbies to really pay attention or you blow up, as well as healer check to see if you can actually use sprint button and run around in circles, and yes, last boss, learn to read message on the screen. All those normal primal battle, starting with Titan, will spank any newbies who cannot dodge... And Garuda kindly obliterates your party over and over till you LEARN the mechanic and Simon Says you must hide behind the rock yes? Stone Vigil assures you will wipe if your tank does not know how to pull safely. Dzaemel Darkhold teaches you to vote abandon when you find out your Paladin only complete level 30 jobs quest and completely blissfully unaware that there are more quests, plus the last boss is just peachy. Aurum Failmenow is the stuff of a legend with newbies lol - ironic how this is a rather good dungeon with tons of XP - but the majority of players hate this dungeons. Good thing SE making sure that you MUST do Sunken Temple, Dzaemel Darkhold and Aurum Vale (by the way, Primal Hard Mode says hello, no way you gonna reach 3.0 without dealing with Titan hard mode - learn to dodge yes?).

All these low levels dungeons actually quite challenging due to level cap and not having all your abilities, especially the middle level from 32 to 47. The game actually teaches you A LOT, assuming you have some abilities of reading? All the class quest every five levels kind of telling you your basic roles with some story. Plus tool tips explain what each abilities does. If you are too lazy to do your research, I am sure plenty of your FC members would love to share some tips on what you are suppose to do. You can also ask any of them do a run with you, and maybe explain things along the way.

Sadly, the endgame part of this game requires that you do know your role and have some training (this is what those endgame dungeon post 50 suppose to be, your training ground on what your role is). Trials also force you to play well with other and can follow direction. I don't need to deal with wipes after wipes on Thornmarch Hard just because the entire group has no idea what to do and randomly attacking everything and anything.

You want to know what these "snowflakes" does? Just read other thread complaining about Alexander normal raid mode. Which is piss poor easy if you read wiki on step by step and three minutes video showing you what is coming. So what's your damage Heather?

HAHAHA, ok. Now, lets get to the meat of the problem here with this game, which is what you said above. THIS is why this game is doing badly. Once again, How dare you tell people that they need to learn their role, calling them names like "snowflake?" and that after playing what you agree is a single player game the majority of the way; that all of a sudden when they go into a dungeon, which they have to enter and complete to move story along that they have to know a role they never had to fulfill? And on top of that, telling people that play the game thats its mandatory to go online and read or watch videos of certain aspects of the game to be successful? And this is how to "win" at the game? This is horrible game design. THIS is why this game is starting to show its flaws.

What the hell do I play the game for if i can't customize, can only sparingly interact with others in an open world MMO(Second letter stands for Multiplayer), everybody has same attacks rotation and usage, wearing same gear, and watching same videos to be told EXACTLY when and where to dodge every time, every fight? Why play? hand the damn controller to SE and just watch a damn video of someone else playing. Is this what you pay 15.00/month for? And this is acceptable? Do you pay for a car for someone else to drive while you watch? Do you pay to take someone out to dinner just to watch them eat? Do you pay someone to work for you and collect your paycheck for themselves? WTF is wrong with you people? I know. How about you all pay me to play your game for you. Signups located in the back by the watercooler. If you are thirsty, you can watch a video online and pay the person standing by the water cooler to drink water for you....SMDH.

The game looks like it's doing pretty well actually.

There is enough collaborative content in this game that players should take the time to learn their role. I agree that calling names is unnecessary, but the main point isn't wrong. There are plenty of resources, even just reading the tooltips and reasoning out a rotation is a start.

If you walk into a dungeon in the wrong type of gear (stated for a different class for example) and mash buttons that make no sense, you're asking for the criticism you'll end up getting.

And on top of that, telling people that play the game thats its mandatory to go online and read or watch videos of certain aspects of the game to be successful? And this is how to "win" at the game? This is horrible game design. THIS is why this game is starting to show its flaws.
Your opinion. I'm not seeing the flaws you're seeing. I agree on the video thing and honestly, I did a few of the dungeons in HW blind and it went pretty well.

Every MMO endgame pushes you to optimize to clear content. The content is tuned for it. As for interaction, I'm not sure what you're seeing, but my experience is very different than yours. I have frequent in game interactions with other players both in and out of my FC and linkshells. If yours is sparing, you may want to look into finding a few linkshells to join or a more social FC.

The textures were far better, I wish they would bring those back.

What 1.0 did is teach us that a game cannot subsist on pretty graphics alone. Thanks Obama!
