SMN AoE Filler

A filler is that skill or spell you do when you have nothing better to do.

In the Summoner's case:
1) Your DoTs must be applied at all times to all intended targets.
2) Use Ruin when you don't need to do step 1.

Ruin is the SMN's filler spell, much like WoW's Shaman's Lightning Bolt.
Now the subject here is what is most SMN's is their Lightning Chain, which is the WoW's Shaman's AoE Filler.

For the longest time players have already determined what is now Tri-Bind to be ineffective as an AoE Filler.

What bugs me is why nearly all of the never use Blizzard 2? Despite having to be close, it's cheaper, faster, and stronger than Tri-Bind, and slightly weaker than Ruin. It's also a good follow up for Miasma2.
And I'm talking about when it is obviously safe to be close in a mob of over 4 enemies.

I find it very annoying to constantly see only myself take advantage of Bliz2 in huge mob battles.

So what's up with this?

Why do you assume noone uses blizzard II? People use it all the time. Also I'm pretty sure people know what filler means.

youre correct, blizz 2 + miasma ii every 5 gcds is the damage optimal aoe filler for smn at 3+ mobs. its only downside is that its pretty mana heavy, but not nearly enough people take advantage of it regardless.

I keep ending up in heated arguments about it, plus the aforementioned part that I see almost, if not just plain, no-one else use it (my settings are never set to hide other players' effects so it's super hard to miss lol). And sorry, I can't assume everyone who'll read this will know what fillers are. ^^;

Yeah I had that mana cost pitched at me too. But it's so hard running out of MP as a SMN, plus by my 4th or 5th blizzard I got to reapply stuff, hit bane again, and/or too many things die before MP drops well below 50%. Then there's the Aethercharging, energy drains and elixers, assuming I haven't already burned them all on banes and fester.
But it's such a shame. :C

I use blizzard 2 while in DWT when there are more then 1 enemy left then hit Dreadflare when I have 4 secs left.

In DWT it's actually better to use Ruin 3 if there's only 2 mobs. Blizzard 2 is 50 potency per mob, Ruin 3 is 120 potency and lower MP cost. Anything higher than 2 mobs in DWT though feel free to Blizzard 2 away.

I find myself feeling the same way most of the time TBH, but as someone mentioned above... PUGs be PUGs.... I feel like I'm the only SMN who knows what Blizzard II is sometimes lol. Simple math would say if theres 2 Enemies or more Blizz 2 is the best option, Unless in Dreadwyrm then Its 3 Or more.

I never intended on using AoE filler when there's 3 or less enemies, but I never really thought about the math between Ruin1 that has 80 potency and Bliz2 that has 50. That's rare. :O

I haven't gotten to Ruin 3 yet but already I'm loving that it's a thing. . .other than the part I need DWT to make it good.
Also got in heated argument again, the guy is so intent on downplaying it just because how good it is for BLMs. And this same guy spams Miasma2 as an AoE filler. It makes no sense. >_>
