Q14 Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XXIII Q&A Update Thread

Q14. The healer equipment added in 3.0 is lacking accuracy. Will you be introducing gear with accuracy on it in the future?

A14. In regards to weapons, we removed accuracy from the weapons for all jobs. We did this to eliminate situations where you couldn't use a new weapon with a high item level because it didn't have accuracy on it. We've made adjustments to the required accuracy, so even without accuracy on weapons it should be easier to land hits on enemies. In regards to armor, at the start of 2.0 there wasn't accuracy on healer equipment, but we added this later down the line. In the future if balance adjustments are necessary we may add accuracy to healer equipment again. Also, we understand that there are situations where you will not have enough accuracy when challenging 2.0 content with 3.0 weapons, and we will be addressing this. The development team did not make adjustments as if to say that healers should not to DPS.
OK. Now to those healers that get butthurt over other healers dpsing.

You can stop hijacking all the healer threads to say that SE doesn't want healers to dps.

I barely care what they do or why with this issue, or what other people think about it. When I have cleric stance, a surplus of MP, spells that do damage, and nothing better to do, I'm going to dps.

Rough translate (until you get the official one from the forums) Card's effect will be easier to utilize.
Spread can be used out of combat as well. (Japanese name for "Spread" is キープ(Keep).
They are making Lightspeed to feel more like a buff than a "nerf".
    Shuffle's cooldown reduced.
Collective Unconscious and Celestial Opposition's power and effect will be more evenly matched to the other two healer jobs (depending on the stance you are using).
All changes are planned to be implemented during the Savage Coil patch aka 3.05.
I think it comes from MrHappy translation.
Sorry, I haven't got the source.
    Anyway: sounds intresting.

Interested to see what these changes will contain. I'm surprised to see their healing power unchanged, but if CU and CO are changed along with Lightspeed, maybe they will be better healing CDs.

This would be so much fun and my MP bar would never forgive me.

SE's stance in that statement is very clear. They are simply saying that they neither support or disagree with healers doing so. At least that's how I am interpreting the wording. For the record I support healers dpsing. I also support those who do not dps. Point is it really just does not matter.

time for a bit rage mode:

Q16. In regards to the effect of Protect and Stoneskin, can you add some type of advantage, similar to pre-patch 3.0, for white mages?

A16. As I mentioned previously, we made adjustments to actions that were largely based on stat percentages, and due to this the identity of each job was lost when using these abilities as additional actions. I apologize for this.

However, to compensate for this, we've added in a great deal of healing power.
so i take that as a "f*cking NO!" in direct answer to the qustion?!?

Q19. Could you make it so warrior’s enhanced healing effect from Defiance extends to Tetragrammaton and Lustrate?

A19. The reason the healing effect from Defiance doesn’t extend to these are simply because these are abilities. We understand everyone’s request, however this involves balancing adjustments, so we’ll first see player feedback from Alexander (Savage) and then consider from there.
cant they just freaking do it? this really sucks!

Note that the specific way they put it was that they did not want to express the idea that "healers should not dps". They are leaving the choice free to the healers, so:

WRONG - "healers should not dps"
    WRONG - "healers should dps"
RIGHT - "it's up to the healers to decide"

The debate had always been started by those people who insist that healers must dps or they're not doing their job.

I agree with that interpretation. Yoshi very specifically did not comment on what players should or should not do.

As for the last part, I find that the debate is just as often instigated by the "healer is a delicate flower/special snowflake" end of the spectrum as it is by the "healers must DPS, or they are bad" contingent. While I stand solidly in the camp of "really good healers also know how and when to DPS," I wouldn't go so far as to declare non-DPSing healers bad. They are just...not playing as well as they could be.
