    Who writes the journal entries?

Okay so this isn't really a lore thing, but I know y'all love speculating.

By "who writes" I don't mean from a real-world perspective, 'cause the answer to that's probably "Corvinoobus and friends", but from an in-universe perspective. It's just something that came up after I heard about how they're done in the DRK questline.

See, ordinarily I'd write the journal and item descriptions off as a gameplay/interface matter, but the ones written in 2nd person ("You this, you that") made me wonder, because they sounded like they were putting words in the PC's mouth/thoughts.

Are we (that is, the WoL) thinking the item descriptions and journal entries, or is there some narrator (a wandering minstrel perhaps) following us around?

    Count Fortemps.

Except the DRK ones. Those are all us.

No, that's the narration in the HW story line.

I don't think the journal has any reality in the lore. If it were written by an other character it would have been on 3rd person and not 2nd

It always seemed to me like the journal entries were from our prospective. Although, I do like the idea of Count Fortemps telling the story from his prospective. Since Heavensward seems to be told in a memoir-like format as if all the events have already occurred, akin to Marquis Ondore's narration from Final Fantasy XII.

When you go into the inn(s). There is a journal on every desk that has a record of all the adventures you've been through. Since its our inn room, and everything inside of it is presumably our stuff. Then yes, we are the ones who wrote down all those entries in the journal. Who else could have? Why the Warrior of Light would write it in third or second perspective I don't know, but those entries where definitely written by us.

Just a crazy theory, but have you considered that maybe they are conscious of the fact; that they are avatars created by some unknown higher power? Us, the players, namely. And their purposely writing like that to help the player understand their next objectives in the game? The journal seems to be for the players, not for them. Crazy idea but it seems to make sense.

Louisoix died so we could play Final Fantasy 2.0

Let that sink in for a minute.

It's also possible we're writing them in that manner in case a mass amnesia happens after our death/demise like the one after carteneau and we're preserving our own memory and name in history by writing in both second and third person. Think about it, especially for the legacy story alterations, The Old Warriors of light were forgotten once already, so writing in this form would allow anyone who found the journal to not just know what was done and why but who did it as well.
