Melee is single target. It should do a lot more.

Ranged is a very long line, capable of hitting more mobs than the Mage limit break if positioned correctly.

    So...nothing to see here?
In practice it shouldn't be possible to hit more mobs than the Mage since they will all be clumped in a circle in front of the tank. There have been rare occasions where the stars have aligned and I manage to hit 4 mobs in a row where a mage could only hit two, but I'm assuming the reduced potency is due to the fact that it's impossible (I think) to miss your main target since it's a targeted skill (not a placed aoe).

    That's a good point too.

Either way, if his findings are accurate, there's really nothing wrong with it.

It's still quite difficult to miss anything with the Mage LB since it follows the same rules as other placed AoE strikes (if the target is touching the telegraph at the moment right before the cast completes, it will be hit even if it has moved out of the animation). It's disappointing if the ranged LB is in fact the weakest of the three, but I don't have numbers to prove or disprove that.

I can say without a doubt that in dungeons, it's much harder to use LB on trash mobs because they have a tendency to clump up on the tank then spread. Ranged LB1 is incredibly narrow.
