    Hello,

I'm here cause of the 90002 error
I've play FF14 during 1month a year before ... and i've stop cause each day i got error 90002 during duty (and craft) then i've 3min of error 3102 and can log back

It's happend mostly in instance and craft

So i'm often kicked of my group or loose component
1year leater i come back cause the game was really nice witout the error 90002, and i was a fool to think "i guess after a year this error will be resolved"

So now with new computer, new router, new connexion, i still have this error every day ...
    I'm working, doing sport, i can't say i play a lot each day (around 1h (2instance)
But i still have this error daily

If it's a DNS trouble or a port trouble just let me know, i'll check
I don't have any ping trouble, upload/download issues, don't loose any packet
So i'm kinda really annoyed with this (and seems i'm not the only one)

I play with a french friend (come from france) he don't have this trouble (never)
But an other friend (from belgium) have exactly the same trouble as me, he can plays severals hours witout DC, as long as he don't do instance

Now we we are talking about FF14 we don't even say final fantasy, but mostly "hey, how was your error 90002 duty yesterday" we are joking about it, and laugh a lot by saying error 90002 instead of final fantasy 14 but it's not really fun .... if it was a f2p why not, but we pay for this ...

So can we have an answer or a fix for this ?

Instances run on a shorter refresh cycle and can be more sensitive to lag spikes compared to the open world. So there could be a routing issue in play. Being overseas you are a likely dealing with more latency than most in North America if you are on the NA/EU servers in Canada. May be worth trying some free trials on VPN services to see if it clears things up any. If so, then it is very likely an issue occurring along the route your ISP is assigning you.

It should be noted that both Verizon and BT customers have been reporting a lot of quality of service issues recently...and not all tied to this game. So if you are using their lines at all (either as your ISP or you get routed through them along the way), they could be part of your problem.

Today is the first time I've seen this problem and it's constant, even just sitting there while running diagnostics on the rest of my network. I have very minor packet loss from Faerie but nowhere else. Nothing says fun like spending the entire afternoon off trying to figure out why you can't do the one thing you wanted to do.

I have the same problem that started today when I tried to log in around 1500 est. Restarting computer and resetting internet connection items did nothing and I keep getting kicked off server. ><

reported problems: Internet (52%), Phone (43%), Total Blackout (4%)

...and that is just a small sampling of the list.

See if you can spot any trends amongst them--not just the types of services affected, but also where the reports are generated.
(look at the regions where most the reports are from--easy to spot on the maps that major hubs appear to be having issues)

There are known infrastructure issues with the internet throughout North America. Some of the major points in the Open Internet and Net Neutrality initiative in recent years basically focused around the issues of ISP's not properly maintaining upstream arrangements to support their increased bandwidth demands as they sell more/higher bandwidth packages. Some were even caught using it to force content providers to pay for better acess to their customers, essentially "double-dipping".

The traffic levels/problems ebb and flow constantly. If the ISP's aren't keeping up with the changes, you can run into high periods of congestion---and if left unchecked it can actually lead to congestive failure along popular routes. It is up to the ISP's to detect and correct such issues. Need to hold them accountable when you find such issues with your routing.

Testing with a VPN (use the free trials, don't have to pay to test them out) can pretty much prove there is a problem with your assigned route. If using one improves your stability, you have your answer and you need to contact your ISP and push for Tier3 support (sometimes referred to as Engineering) to conduct a proper investigation. They will need valid addresses for testing. Need to provide ones for both Japan and Canada, as you still connect to Japan periodically even when you play on a server in Canada:

    Canada's Lobby Servers:
    neolobby02.ffxiv.com
    neolobby04.ffxiv.com
    neolobby06.ffxiv.com

    Japan's Lobby Servers:
    neolobby01.ffxiv.com
    neolobby03.ffxiv.com
    neolobby05.ffxiv.com

Did this today and still having the problem. Game is unplayable at present. Sad.

Also started getting the 2002 error after getting to the character select screen and trying to enter the world. That just started today.

Edit: Also got a 10105 instead of a 2002. I have no idea what it means. Just want it fixed or at least acknowledged. I've got 11 days left on my sub, and really haven't even been able to play for half of my sub time, which I still paid for.

Kujata is in Japan, so you may have even more limited options within your routing--especially if you are in Australia (people often get crammed into the same undersea routes). Did you try tunneling to different locations, or different services? As demonstrated earlier, results can vary depending on how the VPN is set up.

It's something that is often overlooked with VPN's. You may still run on a portion of your ISP's assigned route and such--it is just encrypted and can avoid some of the shaping rules normally imposed (in other words, avoid getting put on a lower priority). So, if portions of your normally assigned route to get to somewhere like New York are congested and you try to VPN to a point that would still put you on those same networks---guess what, you are STILL on a physically congested route (note there is also congestion bound to physical capacity, not just congestion imposed logically by an ISP's shaping rules). You just may not be getting throttled to a lower priority is all (which would be avoiding the logical side of things, but you may still be hitting the capacity limits). So while it might improve slightly, you may still suffer because the same portion of an assigned route is congested simply because there are too many people physically on those lines. In such a scenario, switching to another region may improve the stability.

Look at the samples I gave earlier--particularly the run all the way to London and back. While the response times were the pits, notice how they were more consistent compared to how the ones in the states had a lot of jitter--in other words, it was more stable even though it was slower. Sometimes you may find you fair better with a slightly slower route because it is more consistent. Sometimes you have to try different options to find the one that shows the significant improvement.

Depending on where you are and who you are with, you may be SOL though. For example, if you are stuck with Telstra out of Australia and Telstra has gone south and not showing signs of recovery any time soon, you will have to wait for them to clean things up if using a VPN can't get you away from them. And yes.. sometimes that may simply mean tunneling to a nearby region or even the other side of your country to do it. Look at the Telstra routes out of Australia I just linked in this paragraph (the first URL, the other two are demonstrating their status atm). If you were able to switch between the east and west coasts, your pathing may change dramatically--but if you are stuck with going to Hawaii or Japan (or anywhere in Asia) you may still get stuck on the same undersea line(s) that were a large part of the problems.
