    Likely it has less to do with them not having ideas, but rather it just being easier to balance classes that are similar. The ability to maneuver around mechanics easily regardless of whether the loss of that ability is what hurt certain classes or not is an extra factor that would need to be taken into consideration when balancing the classes. The addition of casting times to maintain maximized DPS helps mitigate that factor. Having similar support also means that the two "Support" classes have less distinction to figure out when balancing.

    On topic, I'm uncertain if I care about DPS or Tank Samurai ((Tank skill, take all damage to your clothes and hair tie)). I would like someone to share basic armour with Dragoon though.

    I really don't understand what kind of mechanics people have in mind when they talk about ranged tanks.

    I mained a Powertech tank in swtor for quite a while, which was often advertised as a ranged tank, and is often referred to when the topic is brought up. But it wasn't a ranged tank. It was a melee tank that happened to also have some ranged abilities. Your core enmity rotation still required you to be in melee, and if you went the dps spec it revolved around melee moves as well.

    I don't really understand how you could maintain being ranged as a tank without the mechanics getting really weird.

    I could see beast master being a ranged tank, but this is a topic of samurai not what makes a good range tank, so i won't say much more on that. I honestly want to see SAM as a dps. We are lacking in the 2-hand dps department since more of them are tanks already.

    Tank SAM would be cool, but i'd rather see it as DPS. Lancers need to share gear with another class, and Samurai would fit perfectly. Additionally, after DRK was made DPS they've just gotta make SAM a melee DPS, we need more heavy melee dps jobs

    SAM should be a melee caster with high risk, high reward where the main attacks are draw attacks where they have to charge before drawing. Of course, there'd be some side attacks which are instant, like striking with the scabbard, which do less damage but allow you to move positions easier.

    Limit Break would be Zantetsuken.

    I think this would be really interesting, coupled with an ability similar to surecast/swiftcast and a trait that allows you to move slowly while casting

    They said it was going to be a tank class but it was competing with DRK. They had to look at what each one brought and DRK was more unique in that aspect. If anything it should be a melee dps.
