I really hope the SAM would be a DPS and I love your idea of being a TP management class. Here's hoping!![]()

i think samurai should be a major debuffer like its attacks could lower def and str or disorient and make casting longer for enemies.it would have a good role in parties cause by constantly loweri ng enemy stats/traits it would give a big boost to the dps and survivabilty of the party.

Tank SAM would be cool, but i'd rather see it as DPS. Lancers need to share gear with another class, and Samurai would fit perfectly. Additionally, after DRK was made DPS they've just gotta make SAM a melee DPS, we need more heavy melee dps jobs![]()

SAM should be a melee caster with high risk, high reward where the main attacks are draw attacks where they have to charge before drawing. Of course, there'd be some side attacks which are instant, like striking with the scabbard, which do less damage but allow you to move positions easier.
Limit Break would be Zantetsuken.

I really like this idea. My favorite DPS class is Black Mage and I'd love to see some of these mechanics translated into Samurai. I'm desperately hoping that 4.0 gives us Samurai, Red Mage and Geomancer or Time MageThis DPS role will primarily focus on TP managment. They will mirror BLM in the way of having form changes. Astral fire is to attack stance as umbral ice is to def/parry stance. Providing a infinite amount of TP with good management on the players part. As for actual moves, I'll leave that open for discussion. one aspect is that SAM will not typically have cast times unless warranted. such as the final move in attack stance that will use up all TP should a have cast time to compensate for the large amount of damage (like flare).![]()
Astrologian is basically time mage already though.
If they were going to add a mid expansion job I think it would be something like Thief as an offshoot of rogue - less complicated than an entirely new job.
If they did another set of 3 dps/tank/healer roles for the next expac - which I know they said they wouldn't I'd love to see something like Rdm tank with enspells/spikes abilities, Sam dps with skillchains off of weapon skill order, Dancer as a TP healer.
I'd love to see blue mage and beastmaster but I feel like they'd be harder to implement.
If they keep going with job homogenization I'm not really excited about new jobs though.

Currently no. This is someone doing a hypothetical design. Maybe in the future.
