AST: why can't we use time dilation on ourselves?

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but why can't AST use time dilation on themselves?

I understand mostly in a party situation you may want to extend buffs on a party member instead of yourself, but this makes time dilation in solo play completely useless and even in party play you may want to extend buffs for yourself anyways.

Again, I am not sure if it's just me who is doing something wrong and can't use time dilation on myself or not, but I really don't understand the reasoning behind restricting time dilation to party members only if this is the case.

It'd be nice, I think that this would be a solid QoL buff. Not brokenly OP, but allow AST some more options should the situation warrant.

Probably so you can't time dilate Luminiferous Aether and get 30 seconds of MP Refresh.

Celestial Opposition thankfully still works on it

Yea but they could make it not work for just that spell. I totally agree with the OP. Almost 60 on AST and its really annoying not to time dilation an ewer card on me. It would be really helpful for dungeons!

Couldn't they just make it so Time Dilation only effects the card buffs and HoTs? After all, it doesn't extend the length of cooldowns on other classes (hence why Time Dilation on a WHM using Shroud of Saints won't extend that effect either). That way, an AST could use Time Dilation on themselves after an ewer card to help with mp management.

Because if they implement it in that way they could very well do the same to celestial and I like my 5 seconds more mana regen and my 5 seconds longer sprint.

Can you imagine how amazing Astrologian would be if they could use Lightspeed, followed by Celestial Opposition, and then Time Dilation? 35 seconds of basically running while casting spells, granted they are weaker. I would love for it to be usable on self, but I can see how it might be very difficult to balance.

Even crazier to think.. Enhanced royal road on on the spear card, cast on self, followed by Luminiferous Aether, Celestial Opposition, then Time Dilation. Not only is that 35 seconds of Aether being active, but it also reduces its recast from 120 seconds down to 84 seconds.

Well I'm with you. It would be a Powerful self buff but still not overpowered. I think it can be changed anyway :-) it's bad in solo play to have a useless skill in ur hotbar

I'd rather the devs actually looked at regen mechanics on the AST while removing it from celestial than keep a class that is kind of at odds with itself with how much mana it consumes. It seems like "fixing" Celestial would be a great way to also fix regen in general to make it easier.

This doesn't sound strong at all lol. -25% power is REALLY big.
