Observations from a near permanently subscribed player since 1.0 beta (breaks taken only based on extreme financial hardships.):If improvements can't be made to things because of over taxing the servers, I think FFXIV should trim some of the fat from the game.
Things I think FFXIV can get rid of:
- Guildheists
- Potions It has been explained to me that potions and food are necessary in end game raiding.
- FoodIt has been explained to me that potions and food are necessary in end game raiding.
- Chocobo fighting
- Hunting/Sightseeing logs
- City to City Airships
- Treasure Chests
- Linkshells
- Irrelevant quest lines (Ultima's Bane, Relic Weapon, etc)
Perhaps FFXIV is not the MMO for you to play, perhaps you should find another.
The text that you have entered is too long (4349 characters). Please shorten it to 1000 characters long.why? when working so hard in making a good reply ._.

I'm infinitely amused by the "Bosses that require tactics, not memorization".
At the end of the day, it's the same thing. Whether the boss has 3 special mechanics or 10 special mechanics that it randomly chooses from, it doesn't matter. People will eventually learn (read: memorize) what tactics are necessary for what and the result is the same.

What i think this person means is that they want more randomness. Yes, I can memorize that the boss does this AOE, but if i do the fight 100 times, the boss will do the same attacks at the same time every time. What this game needs is better enemy AI. something to challenge. And actually, the bosses don't "randomly" chose from them. And to add to what ryans is saying, which I agree with, this is stupid. Tell me how you can get lucky with a random win when you don't know whats gonna happen? Do you know how many random wins are even generated right now the way its set up? It would be harder to carry people in fight s if it was more random. It would teach people to pay attention to how bosses are instead of remembering exactly when something is gonna happen.I'm infinitely amused by the "Bosses that require tactics, not memorization".

That is present in raids and Extreme modes. Exactly the kind of content that it should be in.What i think this person means is that they want more randomness. Ya ok, get rid of one of the common chat mediums that groups of players with a common interest or affiliation use. Wouldn't want players talking to each other now would we?
And extra optional content? Yeah get rid of those too. How dare they give us extra optional content!
As someone who does not actively raid in FFXIV, these things you want to get rid of:
- Chocobo fighting
- Hunting/Sightseeing logs
- City to City Airships
- Treasure Chests
- Linkshells
- Irrelevant quest lines (Ultima's Bane, Relic Weapon, etc)
Are some of my major sources of content and fun. For example, my free company did a "treasure hunt" last week where we shared maps on tumblr and then tried to find the treasure/defeat the monsters. It was easy, but it was fun. The evening was finished off with some triple triad in the Golden Saucer. Relic Weapon gave me something to work on for literally weeks to months at a time. Linkshells provide "chat channels" to get together with players who might not be in your free company.
And as a cloth-wearing healer, my chocobo tank is very helpful for doing dailies and just general questing....not that I couldn't do it otherwise, but definitely helps out.
WoW is that way ->
