Do you guys actually like killing raptors?

On the extremely rare chance I get into a party, (because of other fixes that need to be made) what do we fight at 40? Raptors, level 54-59. What do we fight at 45? Raptors, level 54-59. What do we fight until 50? Raptors, level 54-59.

Oh and what do we fight at 39 and below? You don't, you do leves till your blue in the face.

Do you guys feel this is a system with promotes strategy and rewards you with a feeling of accomplishment? I say hell no. Every time I'm in these parties, it's a free for all with everyone just blindly attacking the enemy. Who cares if someone dies? No debuffs on the enemy? Is the conj buffing us? Don't get me started on Battle Regiment.

The reason I Enjoyed Grind Parties in XI was because you would band together to take down impossibly hard mobs That required timing and strategy to kill and the rewards reflected it, and this wasn't just for high levels. You started partying at level 10 in XI. I'm glad that there is some solo content in XIV that was lacking in XI. But there needs to be a nice middle ground that Encourages collaboration and communication, preferably starting at a relatively low level

Right now when a party takes on a high level mob the rewards are subpar. We took on a level 69 and the exp reward was 200 a mob. Then we mover to raptors and the 59s would give us 300. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?

    Opinions?

I'm with ya man, and I feel exactly what you mean. In another thread I made a comment that went something like this.

Joined a group with me as GLA, it was GLA/LNC/ARC/ARC/ARC/CON/THM and we did a Raptor party. Everyone rushed in and before me of the LNC could even get to the mobs they were dead. With no reason to go above 10 levels, SP wise, its just boring and stupid. So basically I ended up putting an Archer on follow while they killed shit for about 30 minutes before they noticed. Grouping in this game needs serious work.

Where the hell were you leveling? Every 10-5 levels I was fighting something different. From gobs to flyleaves to trees to worms to COP enemies to a 100 other creatures I can't think of atm.

First off that's hilarious and I've almost considered it myself a few times.

eearly in the game people just wanted to fight crabs mostly. there was a few other level options but many fought crabs. also, there was no cop.

I agree though, i think the level 10 cap is to blame. The game once had a very dynamic sp gain system that worked very well for fighting difficult monsters and handling expanding groups on the more than 4 people side. on the less than 4 people side though it scaled very poorly. soloing was fairly bad in comparison.

The new sp system seems to have been arbitrarily set at a 10 level cap, although in honesty, parties werent meant to be fighting 10 level enemies. A monster 10 levels higher than one person in a 6 to 8 man party would actually con as easy prey or lower, back when they had a system that showed you how hard an enemy was expected to be in relation to your group. So it really made no sense to have a 10 level cap.

However with the readjusting of stats, and limiting of that adjustment, as well as the damage algorythims, we will probably all be nerfed, so maybe then fighting stuff 10 levels higher will be like fighting stuff 15-20 levels higher is now. I guess it doesnt matter as long as they up the sp gains, but for some reason i dont think this will be the case.
