Still crashing with newest amd drivers.
I did an entire fresh install if Win7 Ult 64bit with a fresh download of ffxiv14 arr and still get the same issue of the game completely hard crashing my comp. Funny thing is I can go for days or even a week without it happening playing most the day and then it starts and can happen 5 times in one day. Temps all check out, all hardware checked out, was using old drivers that came wiith my Gefore 970OC and at first thought that fixed it but then wham it started happening so older drivers or newer still no real fix. Can happen on DX9 or DX11 but seems more common on DX11 but is hard to say.
Okay so it seems it's fixed on my end. I updated to win 10 and the crashes have completely disappeared for me. I did notice one thing though, when I installed chrome every time I warped the game locked up for a min like it did before. it would freeze for a second in the loading screen then continue to load, but never actually freeze.
I tested it multiple times with that same result. I uninstalled chrome and everything is smooth again. so maybe it might have something to do with chrome?. just thought I would share that with you all.
P.S. sorry for long post.
Yeah I'm sure it has been discussed somewhere here before but Chrome has been causing random crashes on Nvidia cards for a few months now. The last couple sets of drivers were meant to have fixed it but in the geforce forums it seems to depend on your exact combination of hardware. This applies to all games not just FF.Okay so it seems it's fixed on my end. I updated to win 10 and the crashes have completely disappeared for me. I've been using the latest nvidia drivers (353.62) for roughly the last two days and have so far been issue-free. Again, I think the issue I've been having is a little different from what other people here are experiencing, so YMMV, but definitely worth trying for people with nvidia cards.
Big Edit: I found out I had corrupt files. Wiped and re installed. No issues!

I have 2 GTX 970s and a single 2560x1080 display
i7-4790K, 16GB RAM, Windows 8.1 Pro
Tried playing with DX11 and DX9, had crashes with driver version 353.62
Moved to driver version 353.06, after another player's advice, still crashes on 11 and 9.
No overlays whatsoever have been on. DX9 also acts flaky, not even playable with lowest settings.
Only seems to play well when SLI is turned off.
Although I swear I ran through a dungeon a week ago on DX11 with SLI on and had no problems until I spoke with a Levemete afterwards. That was with 353.3X driver (can't quite remember).
I just built this rig and it bums me out that I have $300 just sitting in the case not doing anything while I play FFXIV.
I plan on getting Win 10, and some are saying they haven't had any problems since upgrading. Any more news on that front?
EDIT: Just did a quick 10 load. Nothing fixed. So the question for the 10 users is: Did things work for you after doing a clean load or just the normal upgrade?

Upgraded to windows 10 can confirm, fixed nothing. ( Upgrade not fresh install )
Going Dx9 stops the crashing for me, I can have many internet pages going at once in the background, even the loading of zones are faster but as soon I go back to Dx11, loading zones are slower, get freezes if I have my firefox up in the background, sometimes total lock up and I have to force restart my computer.
Dx11 is too buggy for FFXIV over Dx9
Its gonna get worse for them when they push it over to console in the future and they can't tackle this. Quick 1-2 second freezing is bad but LOCK UPS or GAME crashing is worse.
Edit. I am using Windows 7 with the newest patch for GTX970 cards
