May I ask: is it the EVGA version of the GTX 970 you've got?I also get these complete system crashes with dx9 and dx11. I'll log in and sometimes be smooth for a couple hours other times just 10-15 minutes and game sends my comp into a bsod with noise. Only a hard system restart will get my system back up and running. Can't find any issue with my comp and I can play plenty of other intensive games without an issue and no issue when I run a maxed out system benchmark. I'm running an intel 4690, gtx 970, and 16gigs of high speed gamer ram.
This is getting really annoying as I just returned to the game where my old system before upgrade would play at max settings without a hitch. 3 times in a row now crashed trying to do the first machinist duty.

Its the Gigabyte version actually. Some others have been saying the issue is due to the factory OCs of our cards though so I tried setting mine at the GeForce base specs. Only have had maybe 2 hours to try it after that but no crashes during then.
Yeah, I'm experiencing the issues as well. Only while in DX11, DX9 works fine. EVERYTIME I load a dungeon its just an instant crash to desktop. I would say about 60% of the time I am loading between zones I have the issue as well. As everyone else has pointed out, I am using an AMD Card. the R9 295x2 with 15.15 Catalyst drivers. I DO NOT GET pop ups about my drivers stopped working, or any music continuing to play, it is just an instantaneous CTD.
Big Edit: I found out I had corrupt files. Wiped and re installed. No issues!

I have 2 GTX 970s and a single 2560x1080 display
i7-4790K, 16GB RAM, Windows 8.1 Pro
Tried playing with DX11 and DX9, had crashes with driver version 353.62
Moved to driver version 353.06, after another player's advice, still crashes on 11 and 9.
No overlays whatsoever have been on. DX9 also acts flaky, not even playable with lowest settings.
Only seems to play well when SLI is turned off.
Although I swear I ran through a dungeon a week ago on DX11 with SLI on and had no problems until I spoke with a Levemete afterwards. That was with 353.3X driver (can't quite remember).
I just built this rig and it bums me out that I have $300 just sitting in the case not doing anything while I play FFXIV.
I plan on getting Win 10, and some are saying they haven't had any problems since upgrading. Any more news on that front?
EDIT: Just did a quick 10 load. Nothing fixed. So the question for the 10 users is: Did things work for you after doing a clean load or just the normal upgrade?

I play with a single GTX 980 and the only way I stopped the fatal errors was to revert my drivers to 350.12. I haven't changed them since, and I haven't crashed since.I have 2 GTX 970s and a single 2560x1080 display

The only driver that I know of that doesn't cause this issue doesn't support my card.
The other 280 series cards that *can* use this driver can roll back to it and have no problems, but it won't work with my 390.
R9 380 with catalyst 15.7 and crashing at an exact point in a fight in Alexander. Every time. Just outright game closes.

I'm still having trouble with DirectX11 and ffxiv:hw and I had a few hiccups recently with 9 running so it's far from resolved. Resolved my a$$.
I run an AMD r9 285.
I just want to run my game in 11 w/o the "when will I freeze up and have to do a relog from scratch to get back in" in the back of my head.

r9 380 - dx9 perfect - dx11 random crash after 5 min in game (driver needs to reset)
