After trying various fixes posted around the web to no avail, I noticed that most people with the 970GTX had an overclocked version like myself.
By using msi afterburner and setting the core clock to the default setting I have been able to play without any issues.
I noticed my GPU was running awfully hot at times( 80-86°C) making it throttle a lot, I can only assume this was the reason the GPU would be unstable at higher frequencies.
That being said however, FF14 is still the only game i have experienced this issue with.
According to AMD forums there's a known issue with the R9 300 series cards(minus Fury) drivers and hardware acceleration. Problem is, *Windows* itself uses hardware acceleration. And it's not just FFXIV, there's a slew of DX11 games having issues.
The only time my Fury X caused the game to crash was when I tried overclocking.
I can't believe they move it to resolved section!!! WTF SE???
I'm not running on a high end machine but crashing on DX11 is really frustrating.
Win 7 64bit 6gig triple channel ram
Sapphire R9 285OC
AMD Driver 15.20.1026.1003-150728al-187447C
Game will bounce to desktop, then not responding.
Still crashes for me:
R9 380
Win10 and previously in win7
AMD Driver 15.20.1026.1004-xxxxxxxxxx
did anyone try catalyst 15.7.1 ?
BUMP x.x I havent bothered to try direct x 11 in a while.if others here with the same gpu still got crashes i probably will still have crashes too i got amd R9 380. i went back to direct x 9 since i upgraded my gpu no crashing there was supposed to be a upgrade but with direct x 11 crashing thats a downgrade for this game >>

970 g1 GIGABYTE here, still having random crashes when teleporting. That really sucks, we've got a new patch and stuff... and again, SE didn't even say something about DX11 problems, i'm getting tired of this sh***. Being forced to play on DX9 when there's (only in theory, in my case) a dx11 available with a lot of game improvements. I'm a new player (like many who've got tired of the lack of content on WoW) but this indifference about a serious problem is really annoying. I'd expected more from SE's getting this sh** serious. =/ sad...
