I asked for this and more stuff on the live letter questions thread, they didn't answer much tho.

It still surprises me how people go against stuff like this saying "is too much effort for the devs" when they are not SE devs, point invalid

having more skins/companions that can fight with you and be able to take them to more places (duties) is a nice thing for EVERYONE

I have no desire, hope or really much care for what was suggested to be brought into the game. It's just not on my wishlist of things would like to see even though having more would not annoy me or offend me in anyway I just don't really care about it to be honest. Glamouring companions also seems a pointless thing to do (specifically using glamours for it), if they were to add variation in companions it would be better suited/would probably take around same amount of time to just add more companions rather than glamouring over a chocobo one since no matter what they would still have to allocate a vast amount of time creating the model animations and such.

of course it would be better for them to be different companions, as it would be arguably better for egis to be different, BUT, we are asking for SOMETHING to be added, even if its just a glamour... saying is pointless is the same as saying that all kinds of glamour are pointless

All glamours are pointless in the sense they do not give you any advantage in combat, they don't function in the real world meaning you the player won't be kept warm by your character wearing warm looking clothes etc and if glamour your mount or companion it won't make it run faster or fight harder etc. Will it make you feel better about your character? Maybe, but I am not sure how much value I would place on that (maybe about same value as which colour socks I might wear under my trousers and shoes). But that wasn't the point I was making originally.

My point was it is pointless in the sense it would probably take an equal amount of time to create the actual companion variations rather than relying on glamour and you yourself said agree actual companions would be better than glamours so if both take around same time why not ask for actual companion variations rather than falling back on glamours which would not be really that much easier to do in the first place.

Instead of asking for glamour, just ask for other companions since the latter is better and the former won't be really that much easier to do than the latter anyways. That was my point in pointing out the pointlessness of specifically asking for glamour versions. The other point I was making is I do not care one way or the other whether can use different companions to fight with or not, it won't improve my enjoyment or decrease it however the OP asked in the title who else wished for it and I answered 'not me followed by giving my reasons and some (apparently misunderstood) advice.

Not everything in a MMO is fighting even less in this one, saying glamour is pointless is your personal opinion, we were not asking for glamour since release for nothing and lots of people ask to this day for glamour to be less restrictive and more variable, so yeah, glamour is not pointless.

Here is the copy of my points:

Some love for Companions/mounts

Our companion chocobo is useful when we are doing stuff in the open world, make it easier to grab a bunch of enemies, but there is stuff that we have been asking for QoL and some other that we would like, as:
- Being able to queue with our chocobo out
- Being able to go into dungeons with our chocobo
- Talk to NPCs while mounted
- custom roulette
- Emotes for more mounts
- Being able to get into battle with other companion other than chocobo, as in other mounts (even if its only a companion glamour)
- Dyable bardings
- Get more companions such as our retainers
- More achievement rewards as getting a rank 20 chocobo is quite an investment in gil/time/effort/cooperation (golden dye maybe?)
- Increase the AI of our companion or make it scriptable/commandable
- Public stables for homeless people
- Increase max rank/add new abilities

There are lots of stuff that would be great to have to beef the companion system, is there any plan to do some/all/more of the points I listed?


And again we where asking if something is being planned in any point in the future

Honestly, there are several monsters in game right now that have wait for it: attack and casting animations!

Just a few I know, but they exist! I understand though since there are no Biasts, Ahriman, Goobues, Behemoths, Coeruls, or Wolves in the game world as fightable monsters.
