i will just refer you to my already stated comment.
80% of the questions were pathetic. I feel the amount of crying over dumb stuff is honestly going too far with this game and the DEV team. Yoshi has listened too much their players and has tried to satisfy even the silliest caprices from this community. This however, is proving to be a double edged sword because the FFXIV community is literally turning into that obnoxious and noisy spoiled kid that doesn't accept a "no" as answer.

agreed OP...
that dragoon one was dumb and irrelevant. the positionals are fine, the problem is that the two abilities are identical and provide no incentive to have both.
Fang and Claw is flank, Wheeling thrust is rear. Identical in dmg output different in positional requirments.
The skills cannot be identical, and different at the same time. The statement is in conflict, so they do not have identical requirments when their positionals are different. That was the point i was making.
Are the abilities silly and just added to give the perceptions of a more advanced flow to the Dragoon, yeah probably. They could have done a better job with the job aswell as many others.
But to expect any depth in a combat system based on the modern mmo model is a lost cause, as the design is centered around shallow repetative button spam based on priority and rotations.
I don't see anything ever changing when there is the current dev team working on the game, since the philosophy is centered around "theme park" modern mmo copy paste content.

it is not in conflict. the main-and only-difference between wheeling thrust and fang and claw is where you have to attack to get their identical max potency and BotD refresh. otherwise they are identical abilities with different looks that tell you to do different things to get the same result, and fill the same role.
.
yes, and for some reason the theorycrafters decided that a dumbed down rotation from the minute long priority system was the best. Are the abilities silly and just added to give the perceptions of a more advanced flow to the Dragoon, yeah probably.
wheeling thrust and fang and claw are not shallow, they are poorly designed. if Geirskogul weren't useful, or if FaC and WT were 58 and 60 skills there would be little reason to go do pick up the other version besides story. it's unnecessary skill bloat. give me a reason to have both. But to expect any depth in a combat system based on the modern mmo model is a lost cause
