Idk how ppl got to 3.0 without understanding and accepting the concept of
    - there will be quests tht will require u to do more than the average point A -> B/ i spy quests.
    - there will be glamour that will be difficult to get
    - dps will require more than just pressing 1 2 3 till the boss is dead
    Etc lol
I never played an mmo before but i easily learned this on my 1st few days of playing 2.0 release.

Are the abilities silly and just added to give the perceptions of a more advanced flow to the Dragoon, yeah probably. They could have done a better job with the job aswell as many others.
But to expect any depth in a combat system based on the modern mmo model is a lost cause, as the design is centered around shallow repetative button spam based on priority and rotations.

I don't see anything ever changing when there is the current dev team working on the game, since the philosophy is centered around "theme park" modern mmo copy paste content.

This happened with my last MMO. People continually wanted everything made easy. Content all needed to he soloable, while giving out the top raid rewards. The entire game became soloable, including 12 man raids. Now the game has to close servers and fire staff because it's failing.

The lesson is that people don't know what they want. If you dont have challenging content, people beat everything quickly and move on. There is also no reason to even try interacting with others and building a community when you can do it all alone. If you hand out top rewards for no effort, everyone has everything and there is nothing left to play for. Even WoW was losing a ton of players when they started down this path (according to my brother, I never played it) and then rebounded with the latest expansion.

I really hope these devs realize this.

Well, WoW never rebounded. It's still losing players. The Asian player base in particular has mostly abandoned it by now. The western trend of accessibility tends to be in contradiction to Asian MMORPG tastes.

Same with me actually. I came from guild wars 2, which went from possibly being a grand adventure direction with challenging content to go along with its awesome movement/combat system, to the fantasy dress up, zerker only direction.

I came to FFXIV because of the more difficult content, and the fact that you actually have to rely on party members to complete challenges.

I wonder if I'll have to be moving on to another game or even genre soon...?

it is not in conflict. the main-and only-difference between wheeling thrust and fang and claw is where you have to attack to get their identical max potency and BotD refresh. otherwise they are identical abilities with different looks that tell you to do different things to get the same result, and fill the same role.

yes, and for some reason the theorycrafters decided that a dumbed down rotation from the minute long priority system was the best.

wheeling thrust and fang and claw are not shallow, they are poorly designed. if Geirskogul weren't useful, or if FaC and WT were 58 and 60 skills there would be little reason to go do pick up the other version besides story. it's unnecessary skill bloat. give me a reason to have both.

I don't see anything ever changing when there is the current dev team working on the game, since the philosophy is centered around "theme park" modern mmo copy paste content.

I don't mind challenging. I picked monk for that very reason. So, much qqing going on around here. FF 14 is not that hard, but not too easy. I want a middle ground. Easy to get into hard to master. Where did the learning curve go? :/

The Moogle quests weren't "too hard" - they were just frustrating that they kept coming back as you unlocked more and more chain quests. You'd think you were done finding nuts and baskets, then 2 more quests would pop up asking for more of the same. I didn't get tired of any of the other errand quests but the moogle ones, although I did want to punch the loser Vanu in the face.
