Holy mother of the twelve; I leave for one class and the thread degenerates. There has to be some psychological affinity, in some people, to picking apart under-articulated semantics unrelated to the central point and debating them as if they're evidence against the core argument. Give me a moment here, let's see if we can get this back on track.
No one claimed that EXP and Rank would not be shared by Classes and Jobs.
The point is that simply having a class that is currently as achieved as it can be does not mean you will be automatically handed a job that has been fully accomplished to the same point.
Let us remember a core behavior of MMO Players: If it's not cap, it's gimp.
- Yes. Your Rank 50 Gladiator will become a "Rank 50" Paladin. With no skills, storyline completion, or benefits and/or specialized equipment/accessories provided by completing the 5 quests associated with them.
- Yes. If basic combat is required on these quests, your Rank 50 job might very well tear through the first 3 with relative ease.
- No. That doesn't make it too easy, too simple, or unrelated to your class.
Six months after jobs are instated, do you think the population of players in the game (easily represented by frequent forumgoers) will overlook the fact that you're a capped GLA who can't PLD? Hell no. Future players will not have the luxury you do of having a head start - when Rank 30 hits, they're gonna need to do their quest. It's not going to be easy.
What makes you think the quests are quick?
Jobs have been what we've been begging for to give "that Final Fantasy flair" to the game since day one. I don't think Team Yoshida believes they can ham-handedly throw them in without cutscenes and lore dependent on really hammering home that the JOBS are HERE and reconciling where the crap they've been this whole time. Our first experiences with them have to be intense, legit, and solid (read: long) or we're going to flood back in here bitching about how we got a spoonful instead of a kiddy-pool we can not only taste and eat, but rub all over ourselves and make asemic groans at while we tell the forums how "Meh, okay." it is.
EDIT: Actually, most of the things I was going to address have been put back on track by other members... that's a new experience for me, lol. Thank you for clearing up whatever ambiguity I'd left room for.
