Capped [Class] =/= Capped [Job]

Sorry in advance for giving this assertion its own post, but I've seen the claim made in multiple threads spanning dimensions of all aspects of theoretical gameplay focused on job implementation and I'm probably just going to snap on the next person who makes the claim and curse the twelve for not giving me the power to beat people over standard TCP/IP until it causes hydrogen fusion.

That said:
No, when jobs are implemented, you will not automatically receive the maxed out job of whatever classes you have at cap. Don't be ridiculous.

The methods of upgrading your class and the methods of upgrading your jobs will follow different paths. --- For jobs, we plan on upgrading them via quests known as specialized trials.

Conclusion: To use an analogy that is unrelated to the true job system, we can conclude that if you had a capped Alchemist Culinarian, and it somehow evolved into a job at the Olive Garden, he'd burn the water before he even added the pasta until he completed at least a few trials.

Even if it does turn out to be a Barcher (Attention: If the mention of Barcher inclines you to react to the subject of Barcher, please re-direct yourself to one of the threads designated for the maybe-class's existence. Thank you.), your bow-wielding master still has to work his way up from Hot Cross Buns just like everyone else. It's not going to break the canon.

Likewise, there's still going to be a lot of work and it's still going to be a lot of fun. There'll probably even be story.

From what I understand, by completing a specific Job quest, you will then have access to the job. So a R50 Archer, after completing the R30 Bard Quest, will be able to be a R50 Bard. But there is still the necessary quests to acquire the specific Bard skills from 30-50.

Now, the real answer lies in how difficult these quests are. If they are in fact difficult, then the growth from Class to Job will be meaningful. Also a great deal of story could be added to give them depth as well.

So here's hoping these trials/quests etc are meaningful/challenging/story/cutscene-packed for maximum awesomeness.

I have little reason to think the quests would be so sparsely distributed. I'm hoping there's enough of them that it'll allow for them to allow for faster class-leveling grinds in exchange for the time required to flesh them out with these upgrades (abilities, traits, and armors, most likely) he speaks of.

Aye. I wanted to use a class that obviously wasn't going to be getting a job as an example. I think we all saw what happens when we start focusing on a single class for too long and before you know it we're just off-topic off in the realms of "It can't be a scythe! His helmet is obviously a beastmaster whose given up his duties as a dark knight to play the bowharp!"

The below is from Reinhart's translation of a summary of the new Famitsu:

・対応しているジョブとクラスは経験値共有　ジョブにチェンジした後の経験値もクラスに入るため気軽なジョブチェンジが可能
・ジョブチェンジは対応クラスが３０であれば　受けられるクエストクリアで可能　
・その後レベル５刻みでクエスト発生　試練クリアでアクションを覚えたり専用装備をもらえたりする

- 1 class 1 job
- For supporting job/class the exp is shared, when changing to the job the exp gained will go into the class so you can change job easily
- for job change if the class is level 30 you can clear the quest.
- After there will be quests every 5 levels, with each quest clear be able to learn new action or obtain specific gear

So it seems you will be capped as far as levels go, but we'll only need to go back and do five quests to tap their full potential.

yes, Lvl 50 PLD = Lvl 50 GLD is what i understood also, but i also thought there was like quests to learn the abilities for the jobs only. so, yes, you will be a lvl 50 pld, but you will need to do the 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 pld quests to get those abilities. granted as a r50 those low level quests will likely be very simple to complete.

Still, they won't just hand it to you on a silver platter, which is all that matters. Now, this may seem easy for someone that is already lvl 50, but think about someone that is just starting. It will be a real challenge.
