The Ramuh adds could have been good egis...
I would ask "do you want it done quickly or do you want it done /right/?" But then 8/10 people would say quickly and then complain about the glitch where their egi glamors head started spinning around like something from the exorcist during abilities.
I have to ask... as it has been a very long time.. how if you have been a summoner for a long time is anyone not used to how the egi's look when it has always been that way?
We get to summon bahamut's decapitated head now, other things will come in time when more important job issues are dealt with i would imagine.
I honestly wish they'd just cut the pets out completely... Turn Arcanist into a healer and the Class for Scholar and turn Summoner into an extra Job like Dark Knight, then just have the "pets" work like Bahamut does... Build Inferno Stacks, do Ifrit-based abilities, for example. Work in the elemental wheel to add some stack management (wind stacks remove fire stacks, fire stacks remove ice stacks, etc.) or something. Would make for a better Job IMO.
I enjoy pet Jobs, but I wouldn't really call Summoner or Scholar a pet Job. They have a pet, sure, but the interactions between pet and master are just so lacking...
Anyway, I'd much rather have a Summoner that works through a full rotation of all its summons, than one which sics Garuda-Egi on a mob and occasionally pops out a Bahamut head. I'd rather have a Summoner which summons all its summons, than one which uses one Egi and a Bahamut and nothing else. Bahamut is great, I just wish all the summons were given similar treatment so they could all be used. Summoner in Final Fantasy always suffered a bit from "Use this one over and over", I'd prefer they break away from that and use all of them in a rotation, than adhere to it by going "Use your favorite by just glamouring the Egi!".
They could equally slap the Egis in a similar rotation by rebuilding the Job somewhat, though. I wouldn't rule that out either, but the way Bahamut works currently makes that seem more attractive at the moment. All they'd really need to do is give all the pets their own cooldowns (currently they all share recasts IIRC), perhaps slap their recasts up somewhat and increase the potency to compensate, either make casting them faster or have the summoning action actually also double up as an attack (to make the cast time worthwhile). Then you're done; You summon Ifrit-Egi, he does his actions. Switch to Garuda-Egi so she can do hers. You'd cycle through all the pets having them go through their actions, rather than using the same one all the time. I'd find that to be a stark improvement. My biggest issue with Summoner is that it summons a pet once then never really has to again. The main part of Summoners rotation should be in summoning. Either remove the pets and have them all summoned like Bahamut in a rotation, or make the pets part of a rotation and give us all of them, rather than some lame glamour.

That'd be horrible! Do you know there are people out there who actually enjoy PET classes.. if you dont... dont play it..
It is okay.. still the egis are ugly and nothing near enjoyable like the avatar pets in FFXI..
and these are PS2 graphics... the character model designers did an awesome job with the avatars of FFXI Summoner.. in FFXIV quietly poor.

I am aware of how amazing summons are on FFXI, i have been playing it since the ps2 release and now play it on pc, i refuse to ever quit. I have actually been an advocate for bringing mini-versions of those summons over to xiv for some time because then its both not the primal and is not so much of a threat to Eorzea having it around. It is okay.. still the egis are ugly and nothing near enjoyable like the avatar pets in FFXI..

I am just saying... its been this long, a few more months or so will not kill anyone if they do indeed implement egi glamor
I dont even understand the idea behind glamour for pets.. since other MMorpgs used to replace old models by new models and thats about it
when every summoner has its own pet looks it looks like a freakin circus O.O
i personally would like the "just replace the old models by new ones" method.
its partly gross what they did to the FF14 summoner ;D im okay with egis for now.. its okay.. they look estheically like WoW pets.. doesnt fit to the epicness a summoner in FF should used to be. but each smn having its own pet looks? strange..
well lets see, it cant get worse.. or maybe yes?
if these glamours look even close to that what we summoners in FFXI had.. then of course i would pick those instantly.

Have to cater to the few and far betweens who actually /like/ their egi's or you will have this string of endless complaining replaced with "I want my egi back!!!" Threads. Instead we will have
"i shouldn't have to ask what my groups summoner summoned!" threads
As i already said thats the difference between MMO's of nowdays and back then.. i can remember graphics updates for a MMO that i played where they updated the graphics of pets and they looked partly different to the previous ones. And the devs havent added glamours for that^.
But i understand what kind of thoughts are behind the glamour system for pets. though my personal opinion is that its quiet awkward and inconsistend for a summoner class. if it would be an automaton pet of a puppetmaster who can easily change the frames etc.. yea.. but summoner pets?
and i cant believe that someone would prefer FFXIV pets over FFXI' avatars when they have actually played it
but well thats my matter of taste and opinion^^ :P
hah, maybe. though for me the bigger "deal" about that would be, that it is very inconsistent design wise... that you have different visual versions of the same pet ingame. doesnt look very round to me concerning design/aesthetically."i shouldn't have to ask what my groups summoner summoned!" threads
but if its going to be like that (glamour system) im okay with it.. as long as we finally receive epic looking summoner pets

Very disappointed by this news, I was really looking forward to new Egis, alternate skins or not.
It really feels like they totally changed their mind on where SMN was going and Egis now feel like an abandoned half-attempt.
The glamour system could really help us in this regard since they could basically add an Egi everytime a new primal comes out without having to wait expansions or patches, all of this without having to think too much on balancing reasons.
It could be something like this:
Caster Pet: Emerald Carby - Garuda Egi - Ramuh Egi
Tank Pet: Topaz Carby - Titan Egi - Shiva Egi- Bismarck Egi
Melee Pet: Ruby Carby - Ifrit Egi - Leviathan Egi - Ravana Egi
They would act in the same way our current egis do with just different skin/attack animations, SMN would get to summon something else without altering game-balance.
Hopefully devs can work it out in an elegant way and yes, the lv50 troll quest was evil and not nice at all.
they could feel like yoshi p and seeing everyone with a (while not full sized) full fledged summon (people walking around with shiva following them or diablo)
it could make it boring because everyone has these big bad summons.
me personally i don't care either way.
