No I didn't and I don't really want to. My interest is in anime and anime style games. That being said Final Fantasy games have a habit of possessing little anime quirks in them. The opening scene with Lightning in FFXIII reminded me a lot of anime like Black Lagoon and Gungrave, heck, even Devil May Cry has similar quirks. That's why I like FFXIV, it has those anime quirks in it too, like catgirls, lalafell remind me of chibi characters, and those those little moments of light-hearted comedy.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind some games like that, but from what I've seen of Demon Souls and Dark souls it's all a bit medievil good vs. evil cliché, just like Dragonage, which I also didn't particularly like, it's been done so many times that it's gotten horribly dull now.
How did 90% of the posters in this thread miss the point that no one cared we were waiting 4 days, we cared that it was coming out at the same time as games and television which would divert our attention away from FFXIV. FFXIV will be here for a while, so it easier to be like "i'll play dark souls and catch up on my new season of TV that just started". SO it was more about the temptation to play or watch other things over the new patch, while this game is sort of like "everyone is doing content now" oh man I missed out on the first two weeks people were doing content and now I have to catch the regs :/ You're making us out to seem like people who have no life and play XIV all the time who can't wait 4 days, when most of us we're people with lives who have crap to do, and maybe wanna watch some TV and play some video games, and can wait 4 days, but there's conflicts. I know I have so much extra corricular crap i college right now, I'm choosing Dark Souls over XIv because I know it will be immediately fun and I won't have to deal with people for a little while (I'm from hawaii but raised in Nevada so I switch between damn I need friends and OMG i hate people isolationist) I will be on the Dark Souls multiplayer thought best believe it, already go two friends for it.
Don't compare Demon's Souls to Dragon Age.No I didn't and I don't really want to. My interest is in anime and anime style games. Actually Dark Souls hype is purely based on how fun Demons Souls was, but it was a game that flew completely under the radar and a lot of people didn't get to play it since it wasn't advertised and had no press. It got "swept under the rug" as you'd say. Its a very very unique game. You wouldn't think it by the art style but Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are both japanese games, it might be worth you giving them a shot.I didn't think you were complaining either, I saw the post as a "aww, the patch got delayed, but never mind, the wait will just make it even better when it finally arrives!"
As for Dark souls, I'm going to be one of the few that isn't harping on about playing it, I couldn't care less about it to be honest, nyah x3
If there's one thing I've learned it's that a game that gets a huge majority of people overly-hyped about it is never really as good as they say. Mass Effect was good but not OMG WOW excellent, Halo was ok but not brilliant, Call Of Duty really isn't that good, Grand Theft Auto is a little too immature for my tastes, Elder Scrolls was long, boring and had nothing really sensational about it, and Borderlands was mediocre at best. I'm expecting Dark souls to also have that same problem of people screaming it's good when really, it's just mediocre.
Games like Magna Carta II, Atelier Iris and Resonance Of Fate end up being pushed aside just because violent video games take the spotlight nowadays. This could also be the fate that Final Fantasy games are starting to experience. In a world where all the top games are blood and gore, fantasy roleplay games are being left on the shelf to gather dust, even though they have longer playability and more gameplay life.
Also the only fate that Final Fantasy games are suffering from are that they're becoming more and more mediocre

Last I remember Demon Souls ended up being listed as game of the year on a good many websites I was reading just after it's release.
Hmm...
but yeah that's what I meant about FF games, they were slowly starting to dip into 'the same old stuff again'. It's the reason I liked FFX-2 and FFXIII, they were something different, though I'd still prefer to have a properly explorable map, and I still prefer the old turn-based battle system of olde.
OP: lookingforward to Dexter (currently also reading the books), But apart from that 1 hour or so a week, I cannot see how that is a factor
I completely agree without you about FF, I really miss overworlds that you could explore and find secret stuff. I'm actually playing through FF9 for the first time now and loving having an overworld to explore and turn based combat again, not a fan of just selecting where you're going to go from a menu.Last I remember Demon Souls ended up being listed as game of the year on a good many websites I was reading just after it's release.

Demons Souls, Dark Souls hype is nothing like Halo, Grand Theft Auto. If you havent played Demons Soul you really dont know or understand the pure awesomeness of the game. It's a game you either love or hate with a burning passion, and there will be alot of those who will buy it because they think they know what they getting into and rage quit 2 hours later.
The 95% of the game pain and suffering and some of the most frustrating situations you will ever encounter in a game.
However, it's about that 5% that is the most rewarding thing you ever encounter.
Also Demons Souls story and setting is not something simply good vs evil. It's probably one of the scariest, most grim, and dark games out there.
