Launcher and now I am only getting black screens and being disconnected from the launcher.. 3rd day in a row I am paying, but not able to play. The launcher has had problems since a 2 weeks before HW release.
If I've understood the error correctly it can be translated into hex which gives 0x800C0008, download failure by interruption.
I think SE a while back adviced to make sure SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 was enabled in Internet Explorer if you were having trouble with the launcher. You can find out if they're on under the "Advanced" tab in your IE's "Internet options".
If you're still getting black screens in the launcher you could try temporarily turning off your anti-virus protection or adding "http://frontier.ffxiv.com*" to your anti-virus's exception list and then try starting the launcher again.
I fixed this problem by running ffxivsysinfo.exe in administrator mode. It's in the boot folder in your ffxiv directory.
