Character Creation Limits on Excalibur

Hello,

I signed up to play FFXIV about a week ago with hopes of playing with some friends on the Excalibur server. Unfortunately character creation was disabled, and i still have not been able to play with my friends even though I am paying for a subscription.

Today I noticed that the character creation for Excalibur was once again available according to this website: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...06d0909189e479

However, when I get in game, I still get the same message: This world is not accepting any new characters. You may either wait for the restriction to be lifted, or you may select another World.

What gives??

Those times are listed in Pacific time, and openings update on a schedule. Make sure you have the right times when trying.

Even if the Website says that its open, it is still possible for the world to get the restriction back up two second later. Chances are, there are other people trying to get on the same world. It's annoying, I know, but not really much you can do unless SE fixes the issue. Until then, I suggest being really persistent. My friend couldn't get on my world for 4-5 days, but after both of us camping the status in character creation, she finally managed to get her character created. I'm not sure if they plan on making it up to people who lost game time due to it, but I hope they do. It's not very good for business.

So just try to watch for Excalibur to get available and as soon as it opens, jump on it asap. It might help to try right before maintenance, on holidays and very early in the morning. I wish you the best of luck.

It's been about a week and a half of camping the server and it seems to never go up, I've seen lots of other servers that are normally down like Hyperion go up for character creation, but never have i seen Excalibur go up. Is it really that busy???

Google "excalibur character creation" there are a few websites which email you upon the character restriction listing, before its updated on the official post. can't list them here as it may be against tos.

Excalibur has a login queue in both evening and morning when I log in, so yes, its pretty busy.

Id like to see the restrictions removed when you have existing characters on the realm as well. Nothing like trying to make an alt for whatever reason and can't, despite having chars on that world.

No one looses game time. They could play on a not so crowded server if they wished just as well while won't be there with any friends nothing is stopping them from playing the game as it was sold.

Character creation limits have a purpose and generally a server would be perma locked for longer periods in other games should it become an issue. The point is to keep a couple servers from not getting to crowded and also help the population of other servers. Its a far bigger annoyance to those who have played on the busy server having to wait 5, 10, or even 30 minutes just to log on because new people keep coming to the same server that is already overcrowded. However there is always a way around such things such as a paid character transfer. Make an eligible character and then pay for to move to the crowded server.

Realistically though certain servers need to be locked for long periods w/o exception beyond paid transfer for balance and stability issues among favoring those who have established residence on that server long before when it wasn't so busy.

And unfortunately, you can bet the spambots are the first to make characters on Excalibur when it's possible. u.u;

What's absurd is that you can't even make another character on your own server with the restriction in place, never mind your friends trying to join you.

All servers are down right now so you may be able to create a char if you try as soon as they come up.

As for the site, it updates every few hours. It probably showed the character creation was open for a short time because we just had maintenence. Your other option is to level a char and pay the transfer fees to get on the server.
