I always thought XIII did have elaborate styles. I mean, look at Lightnings sword o nthe front case, or the motorbike the Shiva sisters transform into. they're pretty flashy looking bits of hardware.Aw you know what I mean:

The elaborate style of the weapons. Really similar to every 3D FF titles thats come out aside from XI, maybe XII, and XIII.
(Hot)Red/Orange > Blue > White (Hottest).. The bunsen burner has orange and blue fire because the Blue fire has high oxygen involved, so its pure burning, compared to incomplete burning(orange) producing soot.If I remember correctly blue flames are caused by a fire that's not as hot as an orange flame, usually you see it as a fire is almost burnt out, or at the base of bunsen burners also as that's where the gas is projected from before it's set alight (so it hasn't built to full heat to become orange untill further into the flame), so if we were to look at it in a realistic sense, every time Ifrit breathed fire or used his 'hellfire' skill, there would be blue fire mixed in with the orange fire.
There is also white fire but that is from a flame that is hotter than orange fire, which would look kind of weird (people would mistake it for holy or something)
Goodbye, Final Fantasy...
They're elaborate, but they dont have bright glowing or crystal sections. Imo the stuff looks closer to what we saw with Amano art back in the day.

Oh yeah.
Well spotted. Been 10 years since my last chemistry lesson so I'm a little bit rusty on this, had a feeling I'd gotten it backwards somewhere though. ^.^
lol... i love how now the design is being hated on when awhile back weren't people crying over reskins and just little add ons to previous gear? This at least is original and new..
I read that then was about to say "I hope the rank 30 ifrit fight drops a glowing fiery plate-mail bikini-top so I can look hot" but then my sense of good taste kicked in and I decided not to say it.
Oh wait... I just did...
Damnit!
They're not terrible in design though the PGL weapon makes me puke with how...it doesn't look like a conventional weapon for H2H, and the ARC bow is way too heavy-looking to the point where it seems unfeasible to even lift it and fire. The wand looks like a cylinder than a real wand...
The rest of the weapons are stuff I'd expect in a Final Fantasy game, though...they look more 'normal' to Final Fantasy proportions. I just wish they'd redesign the h2h, bow and wand to be thinner or just looks more feasible to wield like thinning out the fat portions.
Overall I'd appreciate thinning out the size of the horns in the weapons. The subtle glows are pretty good.
really? really? the old weapons were classy? I think what you meant to say was this: "good bye bland, generic weapons that all look the same but have slightly different skins." These new weapons look amazing. you are crazy. this community is so ass backwards - cant believe people actually gave you thumbs up for that. This is final fantasy, and for the first time, they are being true to their IP.

And Cloud's buster sword, Yuffie's shuriken and Auron's sword were all perfectly acceptable and usable sizes...
