It's not about the scripting they put into the weapon. I am criticizing it as a whole.

    1. The design is oversized for most classes.
    2. They didn't consider alternative means of "spiffyfying" up the weapon, like...I don't know, actually using a real weapon as the base and using the Ifrit-themed elements as decorative, rather than functional, parts of the weapon. (Like using the horns as a handguard on the weapon, as opposed to being THE weapon)
    3. The glow is too bright for my preference, it immediately conjures up horrible memories of Lineage 2 and AION.
    4. They probably ACTUALLY listened to the community's *** thread about having glowing weapons. Holy ***, people, way to force a change in the art direction of the game into something that is so contrary to the original direction set forth by Tanaka.

Now, I may have knocked Tanaka in the past, but I think he was right in one thing about FFXIV direction: The art assets. He wanted to keep things "humble" and "realistic".

Are these weapons from Ifrit realistic? *** no.

P.S. Any counter-argument saying that this is "Fantasy" and that it allows anything to go into the game, please do your research. Look at FFXI, FFXII, and FFXIV before this garbage appeared. You can see there is a consistent art direction, and if you can't, you're a *** who only gives a *** if there are shiny goody stuffs to swing your *** around with.

Because XIV's degree of realism at release really had players praising the game...
