AGREED.
Square Enix, You just destroyed the only artistic credibility you had left with FFXIV.
I wouldn't expect anything less from weapons from the Gods of Beastmen. It is a nice way to add effects of the creature they come from, glowing and looks like they have magma inside is amazing. I expect later primal's weapons to look very unique as well, like Shiva may have ice weapons and Ramuh or whoever they use for lightning will have a lightning effect on weapons. I am just happy they are reskinned weapons.
Artistic Credibility? lol Oh wow... I see your art... but you are not an artist if you say be people can not express themselves or how they want to express what they see as bad... to each there own taste but to say they lost artistic credibility because you don't like it?!?!?! what kind of artist are you?!?!!?

so for all those who complaining, can you make the design that not-over-the-top but represent Ifrit??

Very nice SE, keep up the fantastic work!!
I would have preferred they had gone with a much MORE subtle glow, instead of it being bright as a god's flame.I wouldn't expect anything less from weapons from the Gods of Beastmen. Plus, the very fact that the weapons suggest that they came DIRECTLY from Ifrit's body, suggests that they killed him.
I don't mean like "avatar kill", but I mean, LITERALLY killed him and ripped those things from his corpse.
Garlemald would be proud.
First considering Ifrit is a god, it should be as bright as a god's flame... that is just ironic statement in and of itself.I would have preferred they had gone with a much MORE subtle glow, instead of it being bright as a god's flame.

Second maybe he gifts part of himself to us as we have proven our worth to him as well? We won't know till we experience the CS's first hand.

Easily. By making the glow MUCH MORE SUBDUED. I don't want it bright, goddamn it.
And instead of making the horns major "weapon" components, I would have gone with something more of a decorative feel using the horns and parts. Like, they would be decorative on the shaft of the lance, or be a decorative handguard on the bow, while retaining natural metal/composite parts so that it still looks like a proper bow.

Or they actually listened to that stupid "We want glowy weapons!" threadnaught that popped up over the summer, and for that I blame you *** for this.

You're missing the point. These weapons COMPLETELY break with the art direction that Square Enix had set forth for Final Fantasy XIV up to this point.
Because of this, we can expect more stupidly retarded weapon designs that make no basis in a "low fantasy" setting like Final Fantasy XIV/XI.
Please, tell me an example of a weapon in FFXI/FF12/Ivalice that have such absurd designs.
