Easily. By making the glow MUCH MORE SUBDUED. I don't want it bright, goddamn it.

And instead of making the horns major "weapon" components, I would have gone with something more of a decorative feel using the horns and parts. Like, they would be decorative on the shaft of the lance, or be a decorative handguard on the bow, while retaining natural metal/composite parts so that it still looks like a proper bow.

Or they actually listened to that stupid "We want glowy weapons!" threadnaught that popped up over the summer, and for that I blame you *** for this.

Honestly, I think someone fired the wrong art director.
last I checked the Art Director is still the same... Also I believe they are playing to the heartstrings of the Japanese as well. Hence the very Monster Hunter look and feel to them with the Final Fantasy touch to it.

The Miqo'te you drew for your signature is off model. Miqo'te are supposed to be more slender. I don't want Miqo'te looking so beefy, goddamn it.

the weapon doesn't even glow until you ready them for battle, and they look like they're made out from Ifrit's horns. as I recall, his horns glow.

It's not about the scripting they put into the weapon. I am criticizing it as a whole.

    1. The design is oversized for most classes.
    2. They didn't consider alternative means of "spiffyfying" up the weapon, like...I don't know, actually using a real weapon as the base and using the Ifrit-themed elements as decorative, rather than functional, parts of the weapon. (Like using the horns as a handguard on the weapon, as opposed to being THE weapon)
    3. The glow is too bright for my preference, it immediately conjures up horrible memories of Lineage 2 and AION.
    4. They probably ACTUALLY listened to the community's *** thread about having glowing weapons. Holy ***, people, way to force a change in the art direction of the game into something that is so contrary to the original direction set forth by Tanaka.

Now, I may have knocked Tanaka in the past, but I think he was right in one thing about FFXIV direction: The art assets. He wanted to keep things "humble" and "realistic".

Are these weapons from Ifrit realistic? *** no.

P.S. Any counter-argument saying that this is "Fantasy" and that it allows anything to go into the game, please do your research. Look at FFXI, FFXII, and FFXIV before this garbage appeared. You can see there is a consistent art direction, and if you can't, you're a *** who only gives a *** if there are shiny goody stuffs to swing your *** around with.

Because XIV's degree of realism at release really had players praising the game...
